JUDE CRESTON

Leo won’t even look at me after what I demanded. “I can hear him talking about you, Jude and not one word of it is something that can be said to a group of school children. What makes you think I’ll put you in here?”

I grabbed his arm, firmly telling him, “If you don’t answer my questions right now, I’m gonna ask Evie and who knows how many gallons of blood or sperm he’s gonna suck out of me.”

Leo looked at me hesitantly, fully against putting me in the same room the devil is in. But my eyes are serious about my threat, so he mutters with gritted teeth, “5 minutes. The sermon ends in 5 minutes. I pray God strikes me down if he f*cks you in there.”

“He looks like you, I wouldn’t be against it…” I whisper to him, only to get a death glare in return, “I’m kidding! Take me in.”

Looking around to see if any one of them noticed, but Glass and Evie is busy holding their laughs at Pryce’s words. So Leo sighs, and against his will says, “Ve… ni Mecum.”

The abyss was pitch black and completely empty, like a room that never had walls or a floor to begin with. There was nothing there—no fire, no shapes, no sound—just a hollow space of Leo’s mind. The only thing inside it was the devil, sitting in the darkness like he owned it, grinning wide when he noticed me, far too pleased to finally have company.

“Jude, ma belle…” what shocked me was that he’s sittting in front of a circular table, another chair waiting for me. On it was candles, roses, and plates of fruits on either sides. “You finally visited me.”

“Uhm… hi, it’s nice to see you without the uhh… smile! But uhmm… I’m…” I’m caught off guard by the little rendezvous in the middle of darkness. The candles are a little weird, but oddly welcoming. “I’m here to talk to Leo?”

“Everything he knows, I know, ma lumiere… and if you join me, I’ll tell you more than he’ll ever be willing to…” he opened his hands to invite me to sit, and I was drawn to Leo’s charming smile and enticing eyes that I sat in front of him. I know he’s just wearing Leo’s skin, but it’s still a handsome skin.

“Wow… you didn’t need to do all this. I didn’t know the devil was the romantic type.”

“I do what I want, mon cherie… my brother Lucifer and I are always the romantic type,” he smiles at me with stitches up cheeks, “I heard you asked Leo about the child outside the convent… even though you are a child as well, mon cher.”

“If I’m a child, what does that make you, Devvy?”

“An immortal demon,” he said a matter of fact-ly. I was thinking more of a predator to be damned to hell, but I’m talking to the ruler of it.

He pointed a finger at me, “And don’t call me Devvy. My Lord is fine… Master is sexier… I wouldn’t mind Dadd—”

“Why did the Monsignor adopt Lucien? He’s not a vampire, but he can cause anomalies… what is he, what does Monsignor want from him?” I demand from him, and I see him look up at the darkness as if waiting for Leo to answer. “Devvy? You said you’ll answer, now tell me.”

“I don’t know, mon cherie—I’m not inside that old prick. I only know just as much as Leo. And right now he doesn’t want to say anything to you.” He lips his bottom lip as he peeks down my shirt, “I would, for a little view. I’m guessing it’s not pink, but you can prove me wrong—”

“So he doesn’t know anything?” I ask, looking away from the pervert whose slimy little arms are trying to crawl up the hem of my pants. I stepped on it.

“Ahh—! Don’t step on them with shoes on, puta!”

“What do you know about Lucien?” I firmly ask.

After recovering from my attack on his limbs, the devil leans toward me, still trying to peer over my clothes. “That child… can speak to God.”

“What?” I furrow my eyebrows in disbelief. The devil caressed the tentacle I stepped on, while I reveled in my confusion. “God… as in…?”

“Yes, Her, God, the Mother of all living beings, the reason me and Lucifer have mommy issues—did you know she created temptation from an apple and expected simple-minded apes not to eat it? She also has issues.”

Lucien can speak to God?? I glare at him, “You told Eve to eat the apple, don’t blame God for giving them free will.”

“I didn’t tell her to eat the apple, SHE ASKED WHY IT WAS FORBIDDEN AND I SIMPLY ANSWERED THAT IT WOULD GIVE HER WISDOM TO KNOW GOOD FROM EVIL!” He yells out, quite triggered “The b*tch wanted more than walking around naked, so she ate it. F*ck, did the bible f*ck up my character that bad? Sh*tty humans and their selective dyslexia.”

He conjured wine and drank it, only to glare at it because it’s flavorless. I was stuck in my own thoughts about how the Mother in Lucien’s memories could be God Herself. She was protecting him… she always had.

All the while the devil rants, “Also, I DON’T HAVE HORNS because they’re very inconvenient to carry around! Who the f*ck came up with that, I’ll peg them onto the stalagmites of hell!”

“So… the Monsignor adopted him for his ability to talk to God?” I breathed out, “That’s why he said we’re not truly alone. He’s never alone, and the flowers do talk back to him… God talks to him. But why him? Why is God choosing to talk only to him?”

“This isn’t the first time, ever heard of Moses?” He casually speaks, “I also know this one guy who turned water into wine, I don’t know if you’ve heard of him but we’re sort of friends.”

“So Lucien is a chosen one like them?” That makes all the sense. God is protecting Lucien like he’s Her son. He calls Her mother, and She is the Mother of all. I look up at the Devil, “So the Monsignor is protecting God’s chosen one?”

This time, Leo answered, “No.”

I was caught off guard. “What do you mean No? What does the Monsignor want from him?”

“Jude, why do you need to know all this? Lucien is off limits, that’s the end of it.” Lucien doesn’t deserve to suffer alone the way he has, and if I can understand why he’s been kept in this convent—what purpose he’s meant to serve—then maybe I can give him at least a small piece of the freedom he’s been denied.

“Why did you say no, Leo?” He refused to answer so I yell to the creature in front of me, “Devvy!”

“F*ck if I know—!! Actually, Leo knows so I know, hehe. But he said not to tell you or else he’s taking away fruit privileges for me.” He frowns, “Not being able to taste fruits is hell enough, I can’t stand not eating them.”

I can’t believe the great Devil is doing what Leo is asking him to do.

“Devvy…” I stood from my seat, making the devil stare as I lean across have the table and start to unbutton my shirt with one hand. First, second button… “Won’t you tell me the truth, Dev?”

“Jude, what are you doing?!” Leo’s voice boomed in the dimension.

Hush, Leo. If you won’t say it, he will. The devil is already drooling out of his split cheeks, he’s desperate. Third button, “Don’t you want to see what color they are, my Devil?”

“Y-your what…?” He swallowed the spit that was waiting to be drooled out. His deep breaths and wandering eyes truly looks like he’s desperate for my touch. “I uhh… the child is uhh… he’s, w-well…”

“F*CK Jude—Lucien is placed in a convent filled with nothing but vampires! He’s never safe here, and the Monsignor is using him to test our temptation, which is f*cked up—and you’re failing the test! Now button up your shirt and get out of there!”

I knew one of you was giving in. So I buttoned up my shirt, much to the devil’s disappointment. “Wha—I… why stop?! Mon ame—come on, it’s not like I haven’t seen a naked male before!”

“You just called me a child and you want to see me naked? We have a name for that sort of thing,” I mumble.

“And so what? I’m the devil! I’ve tasted many 19 year olds in my lifetime—though most of them chainsmokers so their lungs aren’t my favorite part.”

He watched me leave the table until he yells at me, “You’re leaving already? Not even a walk home or a kiss on the cheek?! Ugh, I feel used…”

“I’ll visit again soon,” I walked towards the sulking devil and put my hands against both of his cheeks, watching his eyes widen and his breath slow down. He was frozen in time as if I was a sensitive bird that will fly away if he dare move. “I can’t stay, Devvy… you’ll look forward to my return, yes? You’ll wait for me with another candlelight dinner, maybe a rose-filled bath where I can…?”

I know you won’t easily let me go, you Devil. I tease him by playing with my buttons yet again, distracting this simple-minded immortal demon. But I also know you are too easy.

As I flirted with Satan himself, I hear Leo say, “He doesn’t want you to leave.”

I was looking deep into Leo’s eyes as if they’re not worn by the devil. “You trust me, right my little Devil? I’ll come back for you… since you couldn’t touch me, I’ll sure to put in a show.””

I can’t believe Satan is looking at me hungrily and his cheeks are slightly splitting apart to show how he is itching to devour me.

“Jude, Pryce is done with the sermon!”

I heard Leo, but I still took my time to press my lips against the scars of his cheek. That seemed to freeze him in time. “Thank you for answering my questions, Devvy. I owe you…”

His eyes lit up, biting his lips while smiling at me. The devil lifted his clawed hands to delicately reach for my face, but he couldn’t; Leo and him had a deal. But he still laid a hand on my fading face, transferring my consciousness out of that dark dimension.

I woke up during mass, and Leo immediately grabbed my arm to pull me up for the song. Salve stood up with us yelling, “Jude! You know I couldn’t go in there with you, what happened?”

But I was too distracted form Leo’s grip on my arm. “Leo—”

“You’re not going back in there, Jude. You don’t know who you’re dealing with.” Leo shakes his head. “Ugh, he’s giggling while touching his face right now, it’s gross.”

Salve looks at me weirdly. “The devil… giggling? Did you peg him or something?”

“He’s just deprived,” I whisper, just as Pryce told us all to make peace with each other. I tell Leo, “Peace be with you, Leo.”

“And to you…” he mutters. Redd turns toward us and I nod to him for peace, while Evie winks at me and gives Leo a middle finger. Glass blew a kiss at me as Leo says, “There’s no peace in this place.”

“Jude, what did you find out about the creepy kid?” Salve asks me, so I answer.

“Lucien may be the son of God.”

Salve freaked out. “Lucien is Jesus?! Oh no, I called him creepy so many times I’m definitely going to hell! Quick, we should nail him to a cross or something!”

Lucy is not Jesus, Salve. I whisper to Leo, “I need to know more about why Lucy is here. He could be the son of God but you’re saying Monsignor is using him as a test…”

“Why else would he be here?” Leo whispers.

I land my eyes on Pryce, “I think I know who knows the answer to that.”

When Mass ended, Leo and I were the first to leave the place until an older vampire rushed to the door at the speed of sound and grabbed my arm. “Where ‘you going, lover? Where ‘you been? Let’s go have an after-mass party.”

I rolled my eyes at Evie, whose hands are wrapped around my waist now. Leo had to come and tell him, “Don’t cause trouble in church, Eve.”

“Or what, Leo? You’ll overcook my salami?” Evie smiles at Leo, scanning his body threateningly, “You owe me a confession for deflowering a flower owed to me. A bloody f*cking confession with your intestines in my hands.”

“I wasn’t a virgin, Evie… there was no virginity you could have taken,” I tell him, just as Glass and Redd came. What shocked me even more was Glass casually coming over to me, grabbed my face and hips to kiss me right in front of everyone. His lips, tasting like cherry lollipop, all over my bare ones. Sh*t, blood rushed to my d*ck.

I was fully silenced by the time Glass pulled away, then he went to hug Evie on the waist. “Don’t worry baby, you’ll get to do him. He’ll be all yours, okay? Come on, let’s go to Redd’s room. Leo, Jude… you’re coming, alright? Love you, Jude.”

Evie glared at me the whole time Glass dragged him away. Meanwhile, Redd stayed with us, mostly holding back a smile as he stared at Leo. “Mmm, you know it’s a bad idea to hoard him all to yourself, Leo. But I can’t blame you much; newborns are hot—”

Jesus Redd—in church?” Leo hits him to get him out of the church.

The tall, dark and handsome Redd shrugged as he exits the church, “Vampires, buddy. See you, Jude.”

Pryce was the last to exit after he closes up the church. He smiles warmly at me, “I apologize for these kids, Jude. God is already punishing them as we speak. Don’t worry about tonight, I’ll make sure Evie won’t step out of line. Leo will take care of you, yes?”

“Line, what line?!” Salve yells at Pryce, “There’s no line because Glass just snorts it!”

“Are you gonna be there, Pryce?” I ask to the man who definitely knows more than these… kids. If there’s anyone I should use my powers here, it’s him. This tall, handsome blonde with eyes that flirt 24/7.

“Of course… are you looking forward for me being there?” Pryce snuck his hand around my waist and pulls me in—either friendly or affectionate, but it got Leo glaring at us. Especially when he took my hand and press the back of it against his lips, “Don’t worry, Jude… I’ll take care of you. We all will, right Leo?”

Pryce politely nods his head goodbye at us before exiting the church, leaving Leo with me.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Both Leo and Salve asked at the same time, same tone. Salve even crossed his arms, indicating he’s judging me yet again.

“It’s not like I have a choice, I’m already on Evie’s sh*tlist, might as well let Glass make the pain feel better.” I leave the church, and Leo runs after me.

“Why are you inquisitive about Lucien? Have you been talking to him? You know you’re not supposed to do that—”

I abruptly face the dark haired man, “Why, Leo?”

He looks at me as if I asked a dumb question, so I repeated, “Why does Lucy have to suffer alone in a church full of bloodthirsty vampires? The boy is miserable, Leo—you should’ve seen his desperation for me to stay, he might just be the only reason I’m staying in the hellhole you forced me into!”

Leo’s face turned from judgmental to guilt, which made my voice softer because I’m aware he has apologized.

“If I could just know the truth about him, I can come up with a way to make him happy without compromising his innocence. I want to protect him, Leo, either from us or the Monsignor if that guy really is using Lucy as bait.”

I turned my back on him, but he grabbed my hand before I could leave, “Jude I swear, you don’t know what you’re going up against, challenging the Monsignor like that!”

“That’s why I have to know the truth,” I pull my hand away from him, “And I have the feeling Pryce is the one who knows.”

IN ANOTHER’S POINT OF VIEW,

This is your fault!” Leo shook the Withholding with his voice the moment Jude stormed off.

“Ahhh, he’s so adorable… how I’d love to stuff both my c*cks inside of his mouth…” the devil sighs in utter bliss while eating popcorn, watching Jude’s hips switch as he walked away.

“You should’ve played dumb!”

“Mmm, I’m many things lover boy, but dumb is not the word. I’ve been here before God gave humans your penises,” he gets up and stretches, “If you let me out, I’ll save your man from being touched by the bloodsuckers… I’ll eat them all.”

No.

“Fine! Just the evil white twink then—”

You’re not getting out and you’re not eating anybody.”

“Not even if Jude Creston is in danger?” The devil’s eyes turn red because he can hear hesitance in Leo’s heart; one begging for another deal, another contract that the devil thrives in.

Leo finds himself boiling with anger inside his stomach. “We’ll cross the bridge when we f*cking get there.”

The devil giggles while holding his face, “Ahhhh~I’ve never been this aroused ever since the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah! Jude~mon amour!”
