Chapter 25

The grand dining hall of the Lu estate had never been so vibrantly alive.

The long mahogany table was laden with an exquisite feast-a perfect fusion of high-end French cuisine brought by Madam Lu and traditional, comforting Shanghai dishes prepared by the estate’s top chefs. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the room, echoing with the brilliant clinking of wine glasses and joyful laughter.

For the first time across two lifetimes, the puzzle was completely whole.

Sitting at the head of the table were Elder Mr. Lu and Madam Lu, their faces radiant with happiness. Next to them sat Master Lin and his wife, Madam Lin, who looked healthier and happier than she had in years.

Further down the table, the atmosphere was beautifully lively. Lin Heng sat with his usual impeccable posture, but the sharp, icy edge of his demeanor was entirely gone. Beside him sat Dr. Shen Yu, looking handsome in a casual navy blazer. Shen Yu was currently laughing, his eyes crinkling behind his silver-rimmed glasses as he listened to Master Lin recount embarrassing stories of Lin Heng’s childhood. Every now and then, Lin Heng would gently place a hand over Shen Yu’s, a soft, rare smile gracing his lips.

Across from them, Lin Ran looked every bit the corporate queen in a stunning asymmetric red dress. Sitting right next to her, completely unfazed by the presence of two billionaire families, was the ruggedly handsome Ji Yan. He was dressed in a sleek black button-down shirt, his smoky grey eyes entirely focused on Lin Ran. He spent the evening pouring her wine and peeling her shrimp, matching her witty, sharp banter with an effortless charm that clearly earned the silent approval of the Lin brothers.

At the other end of the table, Lin Mian leaned back against his chair, his heart overflowing. Lu Chen was next to him, his large hand resting securely on the small of Lin Mian’s back. Lu Chen was quietly placing a piece of perfectly roasted duck into Lin Mian’s bowl.

“See, Ge?” Lin Mian teased across the table, catching Lin Heng’s eye. “I told you the corporate world wouldn’t keep you warm at night. Dr. Shen seems to be doing a much better job.”

The entire table erupted into laughter. Shen Yu raised his wine glass toward Lin Mian in an amused toast, while Lin Heng simply cleared his throat, his ears turning a faint shade of pink as he tightly squeezed Shen Yu’s hand under the table.

“And you, Ran-er,” Madam Lin chimed in, her eyes shining as she looked at her daughter and Ji Yan. “I expect to see Mr. Ji at our house for the Mid-Autumn Festival.”

“If Ran invites me, Auntie, I’ll fly back from Paris just for your dinner,” Ji Yan replied smoothly, his deep baritone dripping with charm as he gave Lin Ran a devastating, dimpled wink. Lin Ran scoffed playfully, but the bright flush on her cheeks betrayed her excitement.

Elder Mr. Lu raised his glass, standing up to command the room. “A toast. To the Lin and Lu families. To the beautiful future our children have built, and to the love that brought us all under one roof tonight. Cheers.”

“Cheers!” the table echoed in unison.

Late that midnight, after the grand feast had concluded and the guests had either retired to the guest wings or taken their private cars home, the bustling mansion finally fell into a peaceful silence.

Back in the main Lin mansion across the city, the night air was sweet and cool.

In the quiet privacy of the master suite, Madam Lin stood on the balcony, watching the silver moonlight reflect off the manicured gardens below. Her long silk nightgown fluttered in the breeze. Her heart felt lighter than it had in a long time.

A heavy, warm silk shawl was gently draped over her shoulders.

She turned her head to see Master Lin standing beside her. The fierce, terrifying tiger of the business world looked soft in the dim light, his eyes filled with a lifetime of devotion as he looked at his wife. He wrapped his strong arms around her waist from behind, pulling her back against his chest-just like they used to do when they were young and still building their empire.

“You’re going to catch a cold, my love,” Master Lin murmured softly, pressing a gentle kiss against her temple.

Madam Lin smiled, leaning back into his solid embrace. She covered his hands with her own. “I’m not cold, dear. My heart is too warm tonight. Did you see them? Heng has finally found someone who understands his burdens. And Ran-er… she has found her match.”

Master Lin let out a soft, contented sigh, his chin resting gently on her shoulder. “I saw. Our children are safe, healthy, and loved. We don’t have to worry anymore.”

Madam Lin turned around within his arms, looking up into her husband’s eyes. Her expression turned soft, filled with a deep, emotional gratitude. “But most of all, I’m thinking about Xiao Mian. Do you remember how worried we were a year ago? He was so reckless, so lost. I used to cry myself to sleep, praying that he would find his way.”

Master Lin’s eyes softened into a profound, pooling warmth. He reached up, his calloused thumb gently brushing a stray lock of hair away from her face. “Our youngest boy grew up, darling. He didn’t just find his way; he saved this family. And Lu Chen… that boy would turn the world upside down before he ever lets a single tear fall from Mian’s eyes.”

Madam Lin rested her forehead against Master Lin’s chest, letting out a breath she felt like she had been holding for an entire lifetime. “We did a good job, didn’t we?”

“We did,” Master Lin whispered fiercely, tightening his embrace around the woman who had stood by his side through every storm. “We built a beautiful family. And now, it’s time for us to just grow old together, without any more fears.”

Under the eternal, brilliant night sky of Shanghai, the rewritten universe had completed its masterpiece. Every tragedy had been averted, every broken bond had been healed, and every single soul had finally found its perfect, destined sanctuary.
