Chapter 8

“You are mine now.”

The glorious declaration replayed in his head time and time again.

And even when he wished he had been awake to hear it, it was good enough that he meant it.

Good enough that he was now going after what was his.

And no one. Not even Shao You himself had a say in it.

Hua Yong barely slept a wink since Shao You’s body touched the bed in his suite. He couldn’t even if he wanted to.

Maybe it was his nerves. Or downright the fact that the man he had watched his whole life was now with him. In his bed.

He needed hours to adjust himself to the reality of it, then hours more to calm his nerves. One hour became two hours then two became three until sunlight started seeping through the cracks in the window curtains.

Hua Yong got up from where he was sitting beside the bed all night watching his alpha and leaned over Shao You, blocking the little rays straying on the sleeping man’s face.

The alpha stirred a little, eyelash fluttering, long against his cheekbones. Shao You groaned in his sleep, suddenly turning on his side, the action pressing his face against Hua Yong’s, but did not wake up. The enigma having no choice but to inhale the scent that could easily make him feral.

His heartbeat turned erratic at the sight before him as if it wasn’t all he had been watching all night. Still, his pheromones flared.

His elbows dipped further into the mattress, as he hovered over the oblivious alpha. He pushed a strand of hair from the alpha’s eyes, his lips ghosting over Shao You’s. Soft, a mere brush but pulling away in time to stop himself from losing control.

He didn’t understand. Why was it so hard this time around to keep his hands, or well, his lips to himself when he’d kept his control a thousand times before?

But it took one look. Just one look from the unmoored alpha for him to throw all reason out the window and fuck him last night.

Take me,” Shao You had slurred, hot and shaking, grip tightening on his collar. “Please. Take me…”

And that was all it took.

Ugh.

Now as the morning silently arrived in the form of golden rays that bathed the room, he was starting to worry. Worry about what he was going to do when the alpha was finally awake.

He seemed to be in control of many things. But when it came to Sheng Shao You, the term deserted him.

Even worse was the fact that he was very much aware of the fact that Shao You was no mere alpha.

Being an S class alpha meant Hua Yong was on thin ice.

Sheng Shao You was already on top of the food chain and no s class would appreciate finding out they had become the ‘omega’ in bed. Without their conscious knowledge.

He didn’t see it that way. Shao You was just that. His. Alpha or not. But would Shao You not see it that way?

You’re not an omega, Shao You. You’re an alpha.

“—My alpha.” the words escaped his lips in a low hum.

At that, Shao You stirred again, muttering something incoherent in his slumber in response. Hua Yong, eyes dazed and slowly sinking into a place he wanted to avoid for now, slowly backed away.

He pulled himself up, slipping off the bed as quietly as possible to not disturb the man in his bed.

Second after second, morning took over. The sunlight suffusing the room.

He stood there unmoving, gaze fixed on the body he had unleashed his pent up desire on just a few hours before, heart jumping every time Shao You made a show of waking up but never did.

Maybe he should go and make him breakfast. Then it would be easier for the alpha to take in the truth when he woke up.

The way to a man’s heart, in this case, an alpha’s heart, is through his stomach.

And he was planning to do more than just fill him with food.

But that could wait.

“I’ll be back, Shao You.” He pecked Shao You’s plump, waiting lips before walking out to go prepare breakfast.

An hour later, the delicious smell of broth filled the air, wafting to all the other parts of the suite, even the bedroom, and filling the sleeping alpha’s nostrils like a wake up call.

Shao You was starting to wake when Hua Yong returned with breakfast. He padded over to the nightstand, set the tray down and came back to lie in the space beside Shao You.

Waiting.

Shao You took his time opening his eyes. Totally unaware of the man beside him who had watched him all night and even watched him now.

It took a bit of a grunt and whimpering before his eyes snapped open, lingering on the ceiling for a beat too long.

When he finally turned on his side, wincing, Hua Yong was already there in his face. His eyes widened in surprise, hand moving down to rub his back, while Hua Yong’s grin grew wider at the eventual notice.

“You’re awake, Mr. Sheng,” he said, voice low.

Despite the blank expression on his face, Shao You did not have an immediate reaction. Just continued staring into the dark eyes claiming his.

He blinked slowly, even more taken aback when Hua Yong leaned in and hugged him.

“You.” Shao You’s soft voice hit his ears.

But Hua Yong hadn’t been sure whether he meant the young boy from twelve years ago or the young man who broke his back last night.

Still, Hua Yong found himself whispering, “Yes, me.” Then as if operated, “I love you, Shao You.”

It was automatic.

What he had spent twelve years harbouring coming out.

But more than that, it was his guilt starting to get the better of him.

“What—what are you talking about?” Shao You finally pulled away, sitting up. He winced again.

There was a lot going on around him but his delayed reaction to the obvious was the scariest one in everything.

Hua Yong immediately reached out to touch him. “Does it hurt?” He asked in a soft voice, but Shao You put a hand out to block him.

Pressing the heels of his palm in his eyes, he mumbled, “What happened?” Shao You ignored his question and rather threw one of his own.

There it was.

What Hua Yong had been worried about all night. What he should have been thinking about when he made a decision with his dick. Based on lust.

The consequences.

Shao You glanced around the room and settled again on the man beside him.

“Mr. Hua,” he started.

Hua Yong’s gaze met his. “Mr. Hua?” He repeated.

So that was what Shao You meant when the uttered ‘you’. It wasn’t that he didn’t recognize Hua Yong, it was that he recognized him as a completely different person than what he expected.

The uncrowned king of Jianghu. The CEO of HUA CORP.

“Mr. Hua,” Shao You continued, “I need you to tell me why I’m here. I remember being at the bar. I remember heat. Your voice. So there must be some good explanation on why I’m here, with you, in a room that’s clearly not mine…” He glanced down at his clothes. “in these pyjamas and you’re there professing your love to me, looking at me like that. Like I’m everything you want. What I don’t remember is why my head’s on fire and my body from my waist down hurts so much like I engaged in some unknown gymnastics and I’m trying to stay calm.” his fists clenched on his thighs. “So Mr. Hua, start speaking.”

Hua Yong’s lips parted but nothing came out.

In short, he was doomed.
