Chapter 40
6:30AM THE NEXT DAY
Bonehead:
Are you ready?
Grayson’s text came as I was tying my shoes.
Me:
Almost.
He wanted to pick me up early so that we could get some breakfast before we had to head to school.
Bonehead:
I’m parked up the street.
Me:
Ok.
After finishing tying my shoes up, I throw my backpack on and head out before anyone could stop me. Mitchell was currently upstairs in the shower, so I didn’t have to be paranoid that he would chase after me and catch me red handed getting into Grayson’s car.
That would be an awkward thing to see.
“Hi.” He greeted me as I opened the passenger door.
“Hi.” I smiled at him, taking a seat and clicking on my seatbelt.
He leans over and plants a sweet kiss on my lips.
“Where are we going for breakfast?” I wondered when our lips parted.
“There’s a bakery across town, they serve the best pies. So amazing.” He says, licking his lips.
“Sounds good.” I say.
7:35AM THAT DAY
“We’re going to be late.” I tell him. He crashes his lips against mine, his hands cupping my face.
He paused. “A few more minutes.” He says, leaning in once again for a passionate kiss. His fingertips slacken and are now gently caressing against my skin.
When our lips parted, I scanned the street and the sidewalk to make sure nobody seen us before I get out of his car. “See you later?”
“See you later.” He says.
I close his car door shut and begin walking as he starts the car and drives to the school’s parking lot.
When I get to school, he throws a sly smile my way before disappearing down the hallway.
THIRD PERIOD
I was sitting in class doing work when a text came through on my phone. I look at the front of the classroom to see the teacher reading a textbook, so I pull my phone out to read the text.
Bonehead:
Meet me in the storage closet by the stairs?
Oh my god.
I slip my phone into my pocket and raise my hand. “Uh, sir? Can I please go to the bathroom?”
The teacher groaned. “Fine.” Before going back to reading whatever textbook he was reading.
I quickly get up and head out of the classroom and down the staircase.
For some reason, all this sneaking around was kind of hot.
When I reach the storage closet, I check to make sure the coast is clear before I subtly knock three times.
That’s our code.
He opens the door and pulls me in, locking the door behind me as he crashes his lips against mine.
I cannot believe that we’re making out at school!?
His tongue grazes over mine.
We make out for the next twelve minutes before I returned to the classroom.
5PM AFTER SCHOOL
Grayson and I decided to go on a date to the arcade. Nobody we knew ever goes to the arcade, at least, not to our knowledge, so it was a good place for a secret date.
We were currently versing each other at a game of air hockey, to which he was beating me at.
“Are you cheating?” I asked him.
He scoffed in disbelief. “I can’t believe you’d think I would cheat? You just suck.” He says.
“That’s mean!” I say, angrily smacking the puck with my mallet.
“You’re kinda cute when you’re angry.” He says.
I roll my eyes at him.
“And you’re an ass.” I say, angrily hitting the puck again.
This game is rigged!
After playing a bunch more games, we head over to the food area to get some candies and a drink, his hand clasped in mine, when I stop us dead in our tracks.
Oh my god!?
“Shit!” I said in a whisper.
“What is it?” He whispers back to me.
“Is that Hannah and Jake?” I pointed my finger to a couple standing in the food/drink line.
He stifled a laugh. “Oh my god, it is. Let’s go say hi.”
What the hell are they doing here?
I grip tighter onto Grayson’s hand, holding him in place. “No!” I tell him, still whispering. “They can’t see us here. We’re supposed to be a secret.”
“Oh.” He says. “Right….”
Are they like, on a date?
I hope so.
Because it’s about damn time.
They’re so cute.
They ordered and began to turn our way when I drag Grayson away in a panic before they could see us.
Let’s hope that they didn’t see us, otherwise that would make for an awkward conversation tomorrow.
LUNCH THE NEXT DAY AFTER
Grayson and I had snuck away from school for lunch, which was harder than I had expected it to be.
My friends were so suspicious.
I wanted to ask Hannah and Jake about the arcade, but when neither of them said anything, I assumed that they didn’t see me there with Grayson and decided to leave it at that.
We were seated on a bench by the beach eating ice cream together.
“Mint Choc-chip tastes way better than Vanilla.” Grayson says.
“Sure, if you have no taste buds!” I clapped back.
Say what you will about Vanilla ice cream, there is no way mint choc-chip is better.
NONE.
“You’re saying that plain old vanilla tastes better?” He raised his eyebrows as he waited for me to answer.
“Yes!” I could not stress that enough.
“Just have a taste.” He holds his waffle cone ice cream towards me.
“Noooooo.” I nudge him away from me.
“Just a taste.” He pushes it toward me again, only for it to collide with my face.
I scowled at him.
“I’m so sorry.” He says through stifled laughter.
I lift my ice cream up and smash it against his face, making sure to rub it all in.
“Does it taste good?” I ask him, laughing.
He gasped, vanilla ice cream beginning to melt all over his face. “I can’t believe you just did that.”
“You did it first.” I state facts.
He’s looking at me like he wants to kill me.
He’s going to escalate things, isn’t he?
He slightly grinned, and I take that as a sign to stand up from the bench and slowly back away.
“Where are you going?” He asks, standing up while holding his ice cream up.
“Grayson, don’t you dare.” I tell him.
He rushes towards me and I turn around and start running, not that a head start would do anything compared to his athleticism. The guy could outrun Forrest Gump.
He catches up to me smashes his ice cream in my face.
“You asshole!” I groaned, wiping off the disgusting texture of mint choc-chip.
“Does it taste good?” He laughs.
8PM THAT NIGHT
After having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, I head to my room, locking it shut before I head over and sit on the end of my bed. Grayson had texted that he was coming over and that he would sneak in through my window.
I was nervous.
He gently taps on the window, to which I get up and quickly head over to open the window for him. I slowly unlock it and begin to quietly open it.
“Hi.” He whispers to me before he slips in.
“Hey.” I whisper back, keeping the window open.
“I missed you today.” He says.
“You saw me at school.” I say.
“I hardly ever see you at school.” He says, resting his hands on each of my shoulders. “You’re always tucked away with your little friends.”
“Aw, are you jealous?” I ask him.
“You know I am.” He leans forward and kisses me.
While our lips are colliding with each other, we move leftward towards the bed when he slips and falls down.
I stifled a laugh.
“Shushhh.” I tell him, putting an index finger over my lips.
“Sorry.” He whispers back.
He stands back up and pursed his lips with embarrassment.
I’m trying so hard not to laugh.
“Don’t laugh at me.” He says.
“I’m not.” I whisper, still stifling laughter.
He grips the collar of his t-shirt with his right hand and pulls it over his head, proceeding to pull the shirt off and throwing it onto the bed.
I subtly exhaled a nervous breath.
“Not laughing anymore, are you?”
The guy was jacked! Honestly. If I worked out everyday for the rest of the year, I still wouldn’t look that great.
Oh my god.
I am paralysed in place as he takes a small step toward me.
Ooooaahh.
He’s now standing just a few inches away from me. His right hand reaches for the bottom of my shirt, gently lifting it upward. When I snap out of my frozen state, I am quick to help him and lift my shirt up and over my head. When the shirt is off of my body, I let it fall onto my bedroom floor as our eyes remain in contact. His left hand cups my face as he leaned in for a kiss. His right hand finds it’s way to my waist, sending chills throughout my entire body as his cold palm made contact with my bare skin. He gently guides me backwards and onto my bed before climbing over top and pinning my arms down to the bed. His bare chest is slightly brushing up against mine with every kiss. He bites my bottom lip, his blue eyes gazing directly into mine.
It’s going to happen…
My first time….
God, I’m so nervous…
Especially since I had know idea what to do, or how to do it.
It’s not exactly like they teach an LGBTQIA+ Sex Education class at our school.
Nope. No.
We cannot do this.
As if the universe had heard my thoughts, someone attempts to enter my bedroom. Grayson’s eyes widened, as did mine.
SHIT.
SHIT, FUCK. SHOOT.
“Dal?” Mitchell’s voice called from the hallway. “Why is your door locked?”
Grayson stands up in a panic.
Fuck.
“I’m getting CHANGED!” I shout back, looking for my shirt.
“Shit, where’s my shirt?” Grayson wondered.
FUCK.
I pick my shirt off of the ground, keeping an eye out for Grayson’s.
“There, on the bed.” I whisper.
“Mom and Dad said you have to do the dishes.” Mitchell says.
SOMEONE MURDER ME.
Omg.
“Okay!” I shout back.
As Mitchell’s footsteps recede downstairs, I turn to Grayson, quietly laughing.
“That was thrilling.” Grayson says.
“It was not.” I tell him. “I almost shit myself.”
Grayson chuckled, throwing his shirt back on.
“I guess I better go and let you do the dishes, huh.”
“Yeah, I guess you better.”
He kisses me again before walking towards the open window.
“By the way,” I whisper. “Your shirt is inside out.”
He instantly looks down at his shirt and groaned. “Oh well.”
“Bye.” I say as he slipped outside and stood on the rooftop. He looked back in and waves at me.
“See you tomorrow?”
“See you tomorrow.” I smile.
That was nerve-racking!
But I am so glad that we were interrupted, because I was definitely not ready to do anything just yet.
