Chapter 12

“If you don’t go do it, I will.” Allison teases Silver as the two stand outside the boy’s locker room. “I’ll go in and tell him all about the time from third grade when you-” Silver placed his hand on Allison’s mouth, “I’ll go.” He said as Allison moved his hand with a smile on her face.

“Stiles! Stiles! Has anyone seen Stiles?” Scott screamed in the locker room, “Stiles! Has anyone see Stiles?” He screamed once more as his teammates rushed by him cheering. He felt someone tap his shoulder making him turn around to see Silver.

“Uh, you were pretty awesome out there.” Silver said nervously. “Thanks. You too!” Scott said awkwardly making Silver raise his eyebrows, “I mean, that’s not what I meant.” Scott tried to defend himself making Silver chuckle.

“No, no. I did some pretty awesome cheering. You can thank me. I stood up and sat back down. I screamed ‘Go team, go!’ to ‘Defense! Defense!’ I clapped so hard that my hands are red.” Silver said with a smile.

“You brought your A-game.” Scott told him making Silver nod, “I did. I would say you turned me into a lacrosse fan. Football was never for me.” Silver said causing a silence between them.

“STATE! STATE! STATE! STATE!” A lacrosse player ran in between Silver and Scott letting the Argent boy leave the conversation. He walked outside to see his family waiting for him. Allison looked at her brother curiously as she linked their arms and followed Kate and their dad.

“Do you like lacrosse?” Silver asked his sister. “It’s okay but not my thing. Football was exciting though.” Allison said shrugging.

🐺

“Silver.” Lydia says surprised to see the Argent boy waiting for the two girls in the woods, “What are you doing here?” She asked glancing between the two. “Allison and I wanted to try out some new toys we found. And I want to hang out with my best friends.” Silver said handing his sister her bow.

“Before I forget, I wanted to ask if you’re okay with something…” Allison said turning towards Lydia, “Jackson invited me to winter formal.” Lydia looks shocked as her attention turn towards Allison, “Did he?”

“Uh-huh. Just as friends. But I wanted to make sure you’re okay with it, first.” Allison said with a smile. “Sure. As long as it’s just friends.” Lydia said hesitantly. “Well, yeah. I mean it’s not like she would take him to the coach’s office during lacrosse practice to make out with him or anything…” Silver muttered.

“About that…” Lydia said anxiously, “I was scared to tell you but it was a mistake, okay? I don’t even think him that way and he’s obviously not my type! Silver, it was a mistake. I wish it never happened and I thought it didn’t.” Lydia rambled out making Silver laugh.

Silver walked over to Lydia quietly as he stopped in front of her. “I’m not mad it happened. I’m mad you didn’t tell me and I had to find out through Jackson and Allison.” Silver admitted. “But that’s why I gave Allison the idea of the walk through the woods.”

Allison giggled behind him as the three friends shared a smile. Silver grabbed his bow and an arrow as he turned around aiming it at a tree. “What does that do?” Lydia asked him. “We’re about to find out…” Allison whispered letting Silver concentrate.

As the arrow hit the tree sparks flew from it making them stare in shock. “What the hell was that?” Lydia gasped. “I don’t know.” Silver muttered. “Well, that was fun! Any more lethal weapons you wanna try out?” Lydia asked sarcastically.

Silver’s head glanced around as he heard a crack in the woods ahead of them. “Here.” He said handing his bow to Lydia. “What? Why?” Lydia asked quickly almost scared. “Because I thought I heard something.”

“So… what if you heard something?” Lydia asked him trying to convince him to stay. “I want to find out what it is. It’s probably nothing but,” He trailed off leaving the girls alone.

He walked around the woods as he heard someone behind hm before turning around and punching the person across the face. He tackled them to the ground as he kneeled above them with a fist up, “Scott?”

Silver looked up at his fist before quickly getting off him and helping Scott sit up, “Oh! Oh, god. I’m so, so, so, sorry.” He said apologetically. “Oh, no, it’s my fault. Totally my fault.”

“Are you okay?” Silver asked as he tried to spot a bruise on Scott’s face. “I didn’t know you could hit that hard.” Scott joked around causing Silver to laugh. “I didn’t know it was you. If I’d known-”

“Still would have punched me?” Scott asked interrupting him. “No! Of course not. Are you sure you’re okay?” Silver questioned his voice going soft. “I think so.” Scott told him quietly enjoying the moment of Silver holding him, even if it’s just his hands on his face.

“Were you… following us?” Silver asked him as he looked around the empty woods. “No. Not at all! Your dad told me that you started to run this trail and I was hoping to catch you alone.” Scott admitted to him. “By following me?” Silver asked amused.

“Well, yeah…” Scott said sheepishly, “I found this at school.” Scott told him as he took out Silver’s necklace. “Thank God! I was beginning to think it was stolen. Allison and I tore up my room trying to find it and I was scared of what Kate would say.” Silver grabbed the necklace from him, placing it on his neck.

“No! no, just lost. Definitely not stolen by anyone…” Scott said awkwardly. “Well, thank you for finding it and bringing it back to me.” Silver placed his hand on Scott’s leg as he gave his ex-boyfriend a smile. “You don’t think I’m a total stalker now, do you?” Scott asked placing his hand over Silver’s.

“I just think you’re weird. But that’s just you.”

🐺

Silver took a deep breath as he stood outside Scott McCall’s room. He hesitated knocking on the door a few times but he couldn’t wait any longer. He needed to talk to Scott. He needed to get the truth. He needed to understand what is happening.

He knocked on the door.

“Not now, Mom.” He heard Scott yell through the door. He almost left but the voice in the back of his head told him to keep going, so he did and knocked again. “I said not now-” Scott screamed as he opened the door but stopped as he saw Silver standing there.

“Sorry. Your mom let me in. Can we talk?” Scott nodded as he let Silver into his room and the boy sat down on the edge of Scott’s bed as Scott sat on the other side. Silver nervously played with his hands as he tried not to look at him.

He kept his eyes on Scott’s room admiring the dark blue on the walls and the photos on his cork board. “Do you want me to say something first?” Scott said nervously causing Silver to snap out of his trance. “No.” He answered quickly looking at Scott.

“Okay… Do you want me to leave you alone for a few minutes?” Scott asked him moving a little closer to Silver. Silver frowned as he looked at Scott, “Why would I want that?” He asked. “I don’t know. It’s just that, um… you came in here and you said you wanted to talk, and we’ve been sitting here for like ten minutes, and you haven’t said anything yet, and it’s starting to freak me out.” Silver wanted to smack himself for letting that time pass by.

Silver turned more towards Scott as he scratched the back of his head, “Sorry. It’s a little hard to start. This is going to sound really ridiculous. Like, I-I guess I just– I don’t want you to laugh at me.”

“I would never laugh at you.” Scott told hm grabbing his hands. He was about to let go but Silver tightened his grip on Scott. “It’s about my family. A little while ago, I caught them in a lie. A small one. When my aunt first arrived, she had car trouble, and… my dad said it was a flat tire, but she said she needed a jump start.”

“Maybe it was just a little miscommunication?” Scott asked. “Yeah, that was what I thought, too. And then, I found glass on her car, like her window had been smashed in. I’ve been overhearing some really strange conversations and so has Allison. I think some of it has to do with Derek.” Silver sighed.

“Are you sure?” Scott asked him intrigued. “Yeah. I think that he’s not—”

“Hey, Scott, I’m coming home late tonight—” Melissa McCall barged into Scott’s room interrupting the boy making Silver let go of Scott’s hand. “What? What’s wrong? Is it-is it my hair? Makeup?” Melissa asked her son.

“No. No, nothing. You look beautiful.” Scott stood up complimenting his mother. “You look amazing.” Silver told her. “Amazing. Why do you look amazing?” Scott asked after agreeing with Silver.

Because, amazingly, I’m having dinner for once with a member of the male gender who’s over the age of sixteen!” Melissa said shyly. “Who?” Scott questioned. “Uh, it’s a medical rep that came into the hospital today. Yeah, we just kinda started talking, and the next thing I know, I’m saying yes to dinner, and I’m really hating myself for skipping the gym last week…”

“What medical rep?” Scott asked as the doorbell rang. “That medical rep. And, uh, I’m not-I’m not ready. I’m not ready. I’m not done, I’m not ready, so if you could please just get the-get the door and talk with him, okay? Just, be nice.” Melissa said before running off.

“Just one minute, okay?” Scott said to Silver as the boy agreed taking a seat on his bed again.

🐺

Silver sat up in Scott’s room by himself for over ten minutes with his thoughts. He looked through all of his photos hanging up and he liked to see that he made the board. He remembered Stiles telling him that Scott was never comfortable with who he was but Silver changed that.

He would never question Scott on who he was and if Silver could be honest he wanted Scott to be happy. But right now, Scott was all he had outside of his family and he needed him if he could be selfish.

“If you just stay, I swear– I’ll be right back. I just-I just have to, um…I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t totally, incredibly important.” Scott rushed into his room grabbing his jacket and shoes. Silver’s eyes widened noticing the boy ready to leave.

“It’s all right…” Silver said grabbing his coat. Scott ran over and took the coat away from Silver, “No, no– I want to talk to you. There’s actually nothing I want to do more right now. Can you please stay? Please? I’ll be right back.” Silver sighed as he nodded. “Thank you.” Scott kissed his cheek before rushing away.

🐺

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Silver muttered as Allison picked him up from Scott’s house. “He ditched me in his own house? Who does that?” He muttered to himself. “He made a mistake.” Allison commented as she started to drive.

The whole car kept quiet as Allison pulled up to their destination. “I want to show you something. Both of you.” Kate said as the twins got out of the car, “I thought this might cheer you up.” Kate said turning back to Silver.

Both twins followed their aunt of the car and in tunnels. “What is this place?” Allison asked as they entered a dark room. “Let’s start with the basics– you know how every family has its secrets?” Kate asked both of them causing the twins to nod.

“Ours is a little different…” Kate said with a smirk as she turned on a light and aimed it at a body hanging. Silver gasped seeing Derek Hale as a werewolf. “Isn’t he beautiful?” Kate asked them.
