Chapter 11

“This is gonna be impossible, you know…” Scott says to Stiles. “Why don’t you just ask him if you can borrow it?” Stiles asks him.

“How?”

“It’s easy! You just say, “Hey, Silver, can I borrow your necklace to see if there’s anything on it or in it that can lead me to an Alpha Werewolf that I need to kill in order to get back together with you?”” Stiles says sarcastically. “You’re not helping.” Scott mutters as he sighs.

“Why don’t you just talk to him?” Stiles asks. “He won’t talk to me! You don’t understand the pain I’m putting him through, again. What if he, like only takes it off in the shower or something?” Scott sighs as he shakes his head.

“That’s why you ease— that’s why you ease back into it, okay? Get back on the good side. Remind him of the good times. And then you ask for the necklace.” Stiles says to him but stops when he notices Scott’s far away look, “You’re thinking about him the shower, aren’t you?”

“…Yeah.”

“Alright. Stay focused, okay? Get the necklace. Get the Alpha. Get cured. Get Silver. In that order. Got it?” Stiles said to him.

“Get the necklace.”

🐺

Scott walks into class jittery. He’s fidgeting with his fingers, his palms damp with sweat, slightly bouncing on the heels of his feet. His soft brown eyes sweep the room before landing on Silver, who’s sitting in the exact centre of the classroom. The boy immediately goes for the vacant seat next to Silver.

Just as he’s about to put his books down on the desk, another stack of books almost takes his fingers off and he looks down with wide eyes to see Lydia looking back up at him smugly. “Try another row, sweetheart.” She says snidely.

Scott looks extremely offended and infuriated as he clenches his jaw and drops his backpack into the seat behind Lydia. “Okay, class, let’s settle down. Let’s get our books out.” The teacher calls out.

Scott leans towards the boy sitting diagonally in front of him. “Silver-” He whispers. “Hey. Class is starting.” Silver says to him quietly. “I know, I’ll shut up– I just, um, I have some stuff on my phone that I wanted to send you. I thought you might like it.” Scott tells him quietly and Silver shrugs before looking forward.

“All right, I’d like to return to our discussion from yesterday with a more in-depth analysis of Iago and the way in which he preyed upon Othello’s jealousies.”

Silver slowly pulls out his phone as he looks at Scott’s text messages. The photos he sent are of the two over the past few months together. His heart starts to crack as he sees him and Scott being normal together and being happy. He quickly stands up with tears in his eyes as he walks to the door and glares at Scott before leaving the classroom.

“Silver—” Scott shouts following him and the two were alone in the hallway. “Why did you send me those? Are you trying to make me feel even worse for breaking up with you?” He asks tearfully.

“No, I thought you would like them. I-I thought they would remind you of us.” Scott says frowning. “Are you trying to hurt me? Get back at me?” Silver asks him. “No!” Scott shouts at him. Silver wipes away his tears as he walks over to Scott.

“I showed my vulnerable side, Scott. I showed you parts of me that nobody sees anymore. I told you the truth, even though every time I think I about want to die!” Silver yelled at him, “You lied to me! You hurt me and I feel like I can’t trust you. If you want me to trust you then please tell me the truth.”

Scott and Silver stand in silence and all that is heard is the heavy breathing between the two.  Scott rushes forward placing his lips on Silver’s causing the boy to wrap his arms around Scott’s neck. He leans into the kiss for a moment before pushing Scott away. “I can’t.” Scott whispers shaking his head. “Then I can’t either.” Silver says walking away.

🐺

Scott quietly sneaks into Silver’s room looking around for the necklace hoping that he took it off. He was stressed out after hearing that Silver skipped the rest of the day at school and he missed the opportunity to grab Allison’s.

Scott sighed as he looked around his room spotting a receipt from the bowling alley. He flipped it over reading the back where Silver wrote ‘First date with Scott!’ causing Scott to smile. He put the paper down sighing as he glanced around his desk.

Scott looked down to see a chain sticking out of a book on Silver’s desk. He opened the book to the page to see the necklace staring right back at him. He mentally cheered before reading the books on the page indicating about legends and monsters. He saw Silver’s handwriting seeing the words ‘Werewolf’ with question marks around it.

Scott quickly shut the book before jumping out of the window. He grabbed his bike handles ready to leave but a voice made him stop. “Scott.” Scott looked up to see Argent looking at him.

“He should be home in a few minutes. He started going for runs after school with his sister, something about twin bonding time.” Argent said taking off his coat leading Scott into the house. “It makes him happy again.”

“Actually I should get going. I’ve got a game to get to tonight.” Scott says trying to get out of the situation. “You want something to drink? I’m gonna have a beer.” Argent says looking at Scott taking out two beers. “You don’t have to test me anymore. Your son already dumped me.” Scott muttered sadly.

“No test. I’m sorry. High school romances burn bright, fade fast. Silver was different… Go ahead.” Argent sighed nodding towards the open beer for Scott. “I’m good, thanks.” Scott declined.

“So I was curious about something, Scott… How do you know Derek Hale?” Argent asks taking a sip of his beer.

“Who?”

🐺

Silver and Allison both run next to other as music blasts in their ears. Silver was falling slightly behind Allison as his sister led him down her path. He whistled getting his sister’s attention as he spotted the Hale house in the woods.

He took the lead as he and Allison both walked into the house looking around the dark and empty place. He knew little about the history about the house but he couldn’t get the thought that Derek wasn’t the one in the school.

“Silver.” Allison called out getting Silver’s attention away from the house. He knelt down to Allison as she cleared the floor showing claw marks on the floor. “Weird.” He muttered as he put his fingers in the marks.

He looked up and covered his ears as Allison screamed only to see Kate standing in front of them. “Damn! You got some lungs on you!” Kate said covering her ears. “Did you follow us here?” Allison asked. “Well, you can’t blame me for being concerned about my favorite niece and nephew, can you?”

“What are you looking for?” Kate asks them as Silver stands up. “I don’t know. Something. Anything.” Allison answered as she stayed on the floor. “You mean answers to lingering questions, like…”

“Why he would want to kill us?” Silver interrupted her. “Well, I mean, come on! Look at this place. Could you imagine if your father and I were trapped in something like this? It might do some pretty interesting things to your head, don’t you think?” Kate says looking around the house.

“It wouldn’t turn me into a psychotic killer.” Silver muttered rolling his eyes. “You don’t have to be psychotic to be a killer… You just need… a reason… and even then, sometimes… you can surprise yourself. What do you want, Allison, Silver?” Kate asked them with a smirk.

“I want to not be scared. That night in the school, I felt utterly weak, like-like I needed somebody to come in and rescue me. I hate that feeling. I want to feel stronger than that. I want to feel powerful.” Allison answered. Kate and Allison both turned to Silver as he sighed and nodded.

“This family keeps saving me. People keep saving me. The end of the day I always feel weak and become daddy’s little boy, I don’t want that anymore! I want to be powerful. I want people to be scared of me.” Silver said glaring at the floor.

“Silver, Allison, if you can give me just a little bit of time… be just a little patient… I think I can give you exactly what you want.”

🐺

“Silver said that he’s seen you talking to him. Don’t you think that seems a little disconcerting, Scott? You talking to an alleged murderer?” Argent corned Scott in the living room. “It’s not like I’m the only one who knows him…”

“But you’re the only one that’s talking to him.” Argent crossed his arms staring down at him. “Why are you talking to me like I’ve done something wrong?” Scott asked getting defensive. “Have you?”

“You don’t have to be afraid of me. I mean, you get that I’m just thinking of my son’s safety, right? You know only some of his past, okay? You don’t know everything that my son had to endure to get to this moment. My kids are my life, Silver is my life.” Argent hissed out making Scott stand up and face Argent.

“Will you believe me if I say I think about it, too? That it’s all that I think about. When we were in the school the other night, every choice that I made, everything I did– every single thing— was to make sure that he was safe!” Scott defended himself.

🐺

“You okay?” Silver asked his dad as the two followed Kate and Allison to the bleachers. “Dad?” Silver called out. Argent hummed as he nodded ruffling Silver’s hair causing the boy to groan. Silver took a seat next to Allison in front of Kate and their dad.

“That one– that’s Jackson.” Allison called out leaning back to Kate. “Holy hotness. Oh, if I was in high school again… or maybe just a substitute teacher…” Kate said making both twins groan. “You are sick.” They both told her making her laugh. “Shouldn’t your sister be all over that?” Kate asked Silver.
