Chapter 5

Scott pulls Silver out of the school both of them laughing. “Come on.” Scott tells Silver holding his hand tight. “Where are you taking me?” Silver asks him, out of breath. “Somewhere where we can be alone.” Scott tells his as they run in between two school busses.

“We are alone.” Silver tells him laughing. Scott stops as he leans against the door of the bus pulling Silver closer to him, “Somewhere we can be more alone. No worries just us.” Silver smirks as he nods, “I like the sound of that.”

Scott opens the bus door leading Silver in and pulling his to the back of the bus before Scott takes a seat on the right side, resting his back against the window. Silver smirks as he takes a seat across from him on the left side as he stares at Scott flirtatiously.

“Well, we’re alone.” Silver says as he looks around the bus, a chill runs up his spine as he shivers. But he can’t tell if it’s because of the cold or the look Scott is giving him. Scott quickly stands up as he walks over to Silver and leans over him making the boy look up at him. “Don’t hurt me, Scott. Promise me?” Silver whispers. I promise you Silver. I’m not going to hurt you.”  Scott glances down towards his lips as he leans down and instantly kisses him.

Silver can’t help but moan into the kiss as he arches his back. He can’t help but place his hands on the back of Scott’s head bringing the boy closer to him. Their chests were pressed together as Silver ran a hand through Scott’s hear as the boy started to kiss down his neck.

Scott felt his claws prick out from his fingers and he began to breath heavier. Scott pulled back from Silver as he kept his eyes shut and back away from the Argent. Silver looks up at him confused and breathless, “Scott? What’s wrong?” He asked.

Scott turned away from him and hunched over, his hand gripping one of the bus seats. “Get away!” His tone was low. Silver got up from his seat and stood behind Scott, “Scott?” He questioned confused. “Please Scott? I know you won’t hurt me.” Silver whispers trying to get Scott to look at him.

Scott pulls away from Silver as he starts to shift. “Scott.” He calls out one more time. “Get away from me.” He tells Silver this time fully shifted and facing him. Silver gasps as Scott starts to growl and walks towards him.

Silver instantly runs away but fails when Scott reaches out and grabs his ankle pulling him back. He drags her through the seats as he tries to hold on and pull away. Silver screams out as his face starts to bruise and bleed.

He looks back kicking Scott in the stomach as he tries to get away once more but he falls down the steps and into the door. Still screaming he looks back to see Scott walking towards him as he tries to pull open the doors but with one final scream-

Scott grabs Silver.

🐺

“You okay?” Allison asks as she looks over at the car to see her brother messing with his hair. “Arthur!” She screams out earning a glare from Silver, “I told you to never call met that Celestine.” He mutters as he sighs closing the mirror in front of him. “Is this about Scott? Or he-who- shall- not –”

“I just got no sleep last night.” Silver said cutting Allison off, “I was up all night with the feeling that someone was watching me. Then I started worrying about Scott. Does he really like me? Is this a ‘new kid’ thing? What happens if he finds out?” Silver drags on hearing his sister sigh, “Is my sister going to steal my boyfriend again?” Allison mutters.

Both twins sit in silence as they reach the school. Silver turns to his sister with a sorry look, “I want to finish high school here, Allison. I want to have a life here and I like Scott a lot. So if you have any-”

Allison laughs as she opens her car door with Silver following her lead, “Trust me, lacrosse boy is all yours. He wouldn’t be doing all of this if he didn’t like you, Silver. Trust me I know what guys do.” Silver nods as he and Allison both walk into the school.

“You know that Stiles is single right?” Silver asks, “Lydia talks about it all the time.” Allison furrows her brows. “You talk to Lydia, now?” Allison asks but before Silver can answer someone runs into him. “Oh god.”

“Silver!”

“Scott?” Silver questions as Allison walks off. The boy reaches down to pick up his books with Scott’s help, “You’re okay.” Scott says surprised. “Am I not supposed to be?” Silver says as Scott hands him a book. “What?” He asks as he notices Scott staring at him.

“I’m just really happy to see you.”

“Attention students, this is your principal. I know you’re all wondering about the incident that occurred last night on one of our buses. While the police work to determine what happened, classes will proceed as scheduled. Thank you.”

The students in the hallway groan in unison out of disappointment that classes haven’t been canceled. Silver, seemingly ignorant of what the principal is even talking about, simply smiles shyly at Scott before ruffling his hair affectionately with his right hand. “Save me a seat at lunch?” He asks as he starts to walk away.

🐺

Silver holds his tray in his hands as he stares at the cafeteria. He takes a few deep breathes as he hears two people walking up behind him, laughing. “Silver, aren’t you going to move?” Lydia asks as she and Allison both stand around the boy. “Am I not doing that?” He asks them causing Lydia to look at him confused while Allison just sighs.

“I’m pretty sure that Scott and Stiles are sitting over there.” Allison points out, “It’s just lunch not marriage.” Allison told him. Silver nodded as motioned for the two girls to go first and Lydia took the lead. “Just lunch.” He muttered.

“Figure what out?” Lydia Martin asks Scott and Stiles as she sits down next to Scott, interrupting their conversation. The boys look around to see the rest of their crowd coming down to sit with them. Scott looks up to see Silver approaching him and he moves his bag letting the boy take the seat. “Thanks.” Silver says to Scott.

Allison sits down on Stiles’ left, and he chuckles at the sight of her, causing Allison to roll her eyes good-naturedly. After a moment, he rolls his eyes himself and looks at Scott, clearly annoyed that their Werewolf-related brainstorming session has been interrupted by all of these popular kids. He turns the other way and accidentally makes eye contact with Danny, causing him to flick his head in greeting, only for Danny to roll his eyes as though Stiles is the most tedious thing he’s had to deal with all day.

“Get up.”

Everyone looks up to see Jackson approaching the head of the table. “How come you never ask Danny to get up?” The guy sitting there asks him causing Danny to glare at the him, “Because I don’t stare at his girlfriend’s coin slot.” Danny says causing the whole to table to chuckle.

“So, I hear they’re saying it’s some type of animal attack. Probably a cougar.” Danny says changing the conversation. “I heard a mountain lion.” Jackson says as he tries to fight it. “A cougar is a mountain lion.” Lydia says causing the whole table to look at her. “Isn’t it?” That comment alone makes Silver furrow his brows, confused on why Lydia was acting this way. “Who cares? The guy’s probably some homeless tweaker who’s gonna die anyway.”

“Actually, I just found out who it is. Check it out.” Stiles shows the whole table his phone. Everyone leans over each other to watch the video. Silver places his head on his hand as he keeps a close eye on the video.

“The Sheriff’s department won’t speculate on details of the incident but confirmed the victim, Garrison Meyers, did survive the attack. Meyers was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.”

“I know this guy.” Scott says as causing the whole table to lean back and look at him, “You do Scott?” Silver asks as he takes a bite of his apple. “Yeah, when I used to take the bus back when I lived with my dad. He was the driver.”

“Can we talk about slightly more fun please?” Lydia asks, ” Like, oh, where are we going tomorrow night?” Silver looks up slightly confused. “You said you and Scott were hanging out tomorrow night, right?” Silver gulps nervously as he tries to glance at his sister but Allison avoids his eyes both twins knowing that what Lydia wants she gets. “Um, we were thinking of what we were gonna do.”

“Well, I am not sitting home again watching lacrosse videos, so if the four of us are hanging out, we are doing something fun.” Lydia says looking at Silver straight in the eyes. Silver looks at Scott apologetically as the boy stutters, “Hanging out? Like the four of us? Do you wanna hang out, like us and them?” Scott asks Silver, “Yeah, I guess. Sounds fun.” She shrugs looking up at her boyfriend.

“You know what else sounds fun?” Jackson leans forward interrupting them, “Stabbing myself in the face with this fork.”

“How about bowling? You love to bowl.” Lydia says . “Yeah, with actual competition.” Silver scoffs as he is now offended on his and Scott’s behalf tries to keep his tone friendly, “How do you know we’re not actual competition? You can bowl right?” Silver asks Scott causing Stiles to look up waiting for his answer.

“Sort of.”

“Is that sort of or yes?” Jackson eggs on Scott. “Yes, in fact I’m a great bowler.”

🐺

Silver has just opened up his bedroom closet to find an outfit to wear to their double date, flipping on the light so he can get a better look and parting the clothing on hangers down the middle. He picks out a long black sleeve t-shirt and turns to show it to Lydia and Allison, who is sitting behind him on the bed. Lydia’s face screws up in obvious judgment, “Mmm, pass.”

Silver turns, rolling his eyes once the girls can no longer see his face, and starts rifling through his hung-up clothing before picking out a blue button up shirt, at which Lydia also turns up her nose. “Pass.” Silver turns to his sister who agrees with Lydia.

Silver sighs and scratches the back of his head as he turns back to the closet, and Lydia sighs before getting to her feet and forcing her way into the space as well to find something for Silver to wear herself, “Let me see…”

Silver takes Lydia’s seat as he looks at Allison, “It’s just bowling.” He mutters. “It’s a date.” Allison tells him, “Be excited. Dress cute. You used to know how to do this.” Silver groans as both twins look up to see Lydia as she starts looking through the hangers, one by one, immediately moving the one she just vetoed to the side. And another one. And another one. And another one.

“Uh, pass on all of it.” Lydia turns to Silver and starts patronizingly fluffing her curled hair with a sigh. “God, Silver, respect for your taste is, uh…” Lydia looks at Allison for help as the girl stands up and stands next to the twin’s best friend. ” Dwindling by the second…”

Lydia smiles fakely at Silver before turning back to the contents of the closet, ultimately stumbling upon a baby blue long sleeve sweater and a red and gray flannel to go underneath. She clucks in satisfaction before walking back to the bed so she can hold it up in front of the mirror, gesturing to Silver to come so he can hold it up and see how he looks in it.

“This. Allison?” Allison nods at it as she pulls Silver up and hands him the outfit. “Try it on.” Silver groans as he grabs the shirt and sweater before walking into his bathroom. With the door a little cracked both girls start to talk but Lydia’s eyes linger on Silver’s body. “What happened to him?” Lydia quietly asks causing Allison to shut her mouth and look at her brother.

“Not everyone is accepting of people like Silver.” Allison says quickly ending the conversation as Silver walks out.

Before he can say anything on it, his father walks into the room looking at a green jacket in his hands. Silver smiles fakely at him and greets him in a pointed fashion in an effort to indicate to him that he kind of just barged into his room, “Dad! Hello…”

Argent smiles at Silver, oblivious at first to his implied hint as he puts on his jacket. After a moment, he looks up to see his pointed expression and realizes that he forgot something, giving Silver, Allison and Lydia a sheepish and apologetic look, “Right. I’m sorry. I completely forgot to knock.”

Lydia flops onto Silver’s bed, landing on her right side and propping her head up on her hand with her elbow leaning against the bed itself. She looks at him with a suggestive smile on her face, “Hi, Mr. Argent…” Argent completely misses the flirtatious tone of voice Lydia is using, and both Argent twins stare at their father. “Dad? Do you need something?” Allison asks already noticing Silver is quiet.

Argent finishes putting on his jacket and looks up at Silver with a calm expression, “I wanted to tell Silver that he’s staying in tonight.” Behind Silver and Allison, Lydia rolls her eyes, and Silver immediately scoffs, “What? I’m going out with my friends tonight.”

“Not when some animal out there is attacking people.”

“Isn’t this what you wanted?”

Argent quickly cuts him off in favor of giving his reasoning in a defensive tone of voice, “Hey, hey, hey! It’s out of my hands. There’s a curfew. No one’s allowed out past 9:30PM.” Silver rolls his eyes, “If it was Allison you would let her go.” Silver mutters.

“Hey, no more arguing.”

Silver sighs and crosses his arms over his chest, and Argent smiles weakly at the teens before turning and walking out the door, closing it on his way out. Lydia stands and makes a “hmph” noise as she watches Argent leave before making a snarky comment, “Someone’s Daddy’s little boy…”

Lydia makes a teasing face, and Silver nervously bites his fingernail for a moment before coming to a decision, a rebellious glint evident in his eyes. “Sometimes… But not tonight.”

Silver walks over to Allison as he gives her the best puppy dog eyes. Allison tries to look away but the smile on her face makes Silver laugh. “You owe me one.” Allison tells him, “Go and have fun.” She says to her brother. Silver heads to the window, parting the curtains when he gets there. He looks back at Lydia to make sure she’s understanding the plan, then turns to open the window before slinking out of it and onto the roof. Lydia rushes over to the window and watches as Silver walks to the edge of the roof, right in front of the small porch.

“What are you doing? What is he doing?”

Instead of responding, Silver simply leaps off of the roof, doing a front flip and landing lightly on his feet in the grass next to the garage. He looks up at Lydia, who is gaping at her as though he’s lost her mind, before shrugging nonchalantly, as though what he did is no big deal. “We did eight years gymnastics.” Allison tells her.

“Are you coming?” Silver whispers up at her.

“…I’ll take the stairs.”

🐺

Silver stands at shelf glancing at the bowling balls as he grabs a blue one, testing the weight out as he tries to find the best one. “You look like you know what you’re doing.” Scott says as he is intimidated by Silver’s expertise.

Silver shrugs as it’s not a big down and sets the ball down before grabbing another one, “Allison and I used to bowl with our dad when we were younger. Allison quickly got bored of it which led it to being only a boy’s thing.”

Silver tries out another ball as he glances at Scott, “When was the last time you bowled?” He asks. “Uh, at a birthday party…” Scott says with nerves. Silver nods grabbing the lilac ball and turns to walk away joining Lydia and Jackson at their lane.

At their lane, Lydia, holding a bright pink bowling ball, is about to play her first frame when Jackson comes up behind her and grabs her on the hips, nuzzling his face into Lydia’s shoulder, which she visibly enjoys. She giggles as he presses a small kiss to her check and runs his hands up and down her waist and hips as he helps her aim her ball toward the pins. He does his best to guide her, but Lydia doesn’t really try that hard, and the ball ends up going straight into the gutter. Lydia fake-pouts toward Jackson and the others.

For Lydia’s second attempt at the frame, Jackson helps guide Lydia’s aim again, and though she does better this time, she still only knocks over the three back pins on the left hand side. She continues to fake-pout as she returns to the seats, where Silver and Scott are watching. “I’m so bad at this.”

It’s now Silver’s turn as he picks up his lilac ball and prepares to make his shot while Scott, anxiously bouncing his leg on the ball of his foot, watches him with interest. Silver throws his ball with a competent form and manages to get a strike, which pleases him. He laughs as he walks back to the others, with all three of them clearly impressed by his skill. Lydia claps supportively, and Scott smiles widely at him. “Somebody brought their A-game.” Lydia tells him.

“Good job.” Scott tells him as he holds his hand out for a high-five. When Silver turns to watch Jackson bowl his frame, Scott’s smile falls, and his anxiety about how he will perform only gets worse, his leg jiggling even harder from how nervous he is.

Jackson, playing with a sapphire blue bowling ball, gets a strike on his first try, rolling the ball without putting his fingers in the holes and with a nearly perfect posture. Lydia claps excitedly, and Silver looks impressed at Jackson as Scott bites his lip nervously. Jackson returns to their seating area, sitting down and putting his arm around Lydia before he calls Scott up to bowl his frame, “You’re up, McCall.”

Silver rolled his eyes as both Lydia and Jackson turned around at the same time to stare at Scott. “You got this Scott.” Silver says bumping their shoulders.

Scott picks up a green bowling ball and heads to make his first shot. However, his nerves cause him to get a little clumsy, leading him to trip as he makes his throw. The ball rolls into the gutter almost immediately, and Jackson bursts into hysterical laughter just as quickly as Silver shoots him a glare, “Jackson? Do you mind shutting up?” He mutters irritably.

“I’m sorry. I’m just flashing back to the words ‘I’m a great bowler.” Jackson says laughing. “Maybe he just needs a little warm-up?” Silver suggests sitting up.

“Yeah, maybe he just needs the kiddy bumpers.” Jackson says. “Just- just aim for the middle.” Silver tells Scott. “How about you aim for anything except for the gutter?” Jackson tells Scott. “Let him concentrate.” Silver says as he watches Scott tries one more time and the ball almost makes it down before it lands in the gutter. “Great job, McCall. Man, you are a pro.” Jackson says chuckling as Scott takes his seat.

“Hey, we only started I’m sure we got it next round.”

🐺

Silver sits up watching Scott just stand at the top of the lane before he rushes up to him. “Scott.” He calls out, “You’re thinking too much.” He whispers causing Scott to groan. “I know, I’m sorry. I’m ruining this.” He says to Silver.

“No, no, not at all, but I wouldn’t mind shutting them up, so just clear your head and think about something else.” Silver leans his head on his shoulder rubbing his arm. “Like what?” Scott asks. “Anything.” He whispers. “Think about me.”  Silver says with a smirk as he takes a step back but quickly runs over to him whispering, “Naked.”

Silver runs back to her seat as he watches Scott bowl a strike. He cheers for him with a smile on his face, “What did you say to him?” Lydia asks Silver turning to him, “Just something to think about it.”

🐺

Silver holds back a smile as he watches Scott bowl strike after strike. “That is seriously amazing.” Silver says to him. “Jackson, uh, how many strikes is that?” Silver asks as Scott takes his seat next to Silver.

“It’s six.” Jackson mutters, “In a row.” Silver holds back her words as she watches curiously as Lydia stands up, facing Scott. “I could use some natural talent.” Lydia says, “You mind helping me out this time, Scott?”

Silver raises her eyebrows as he clears her throat, “No, you’re good. Go for it.” Scott tells her, grabbing Silver’s hand’s in support. “Thanks for the vote of confidence.” She says walking away.

“Hey, I’ll help.” Jackson tells his girlfriend. “How about I just try this on my own?” Lydia says making Jackson sit down. It was no surprise to anyone that Lydia bowled a strike. “I think I’m getting the hang of it.” Lydia says taking her seat. “That was perfect form.” Silver told her moving closer to her. “Was it?” Lydia asks him. Silver walks over to Lydia as he leans over her shoulder, “Maybe you should stop pretending to suck just for his benefit.” Silver whispers.

“Trust me, I do plenty of sucking just for his benefit, little Argent.”

🐺

Silver and Lydia both sit quietly as Jackson and Scott are at the concession stand. Silver was never the outgoing twin, that was always Allison. She included her brother in everything she ever did and made sure that he was happy but without her here, he was lost.

“You’re really good at bowling.” Silver says to Lydia as he tries to start a conversation. Lydia chuckles as she looks up at Silver, “So are you, little Argent.” Lydia says earning a smile from Silver. “I used to go with my dad a lot. It was something the two of us did when Allison would go out with her friends.”

Lydia now curious about Silver leans forward, “You didn’t have many friends?” She asks and Silver purses his lips, “I – I had a few but we never really hung out after school. Allison was always the popular one.”

“Does it have something to do with the scars on your back?” Lydia asks causing Silver to freeze up. On reflex his hand cover his bicep almost covering it – protecting it. “I didn’t have many friends. People aren’t that nice and my last,” Silver trails off as he looks over to Scott. Scott lifts his hand waving at Silver and the boys waves back.

Silver looks back at Lydia as he feels a hand grabbing his, “Well, now I’m your friend.” She tells him, “Nobody will hurt you, Silver. You can tell me anything, okay?”

Silver smiles gratefully.

🐺

The date having ended, Scott is walking Silver to the door of his house. They stop just before they reach the doorstep as Scott looks at him nervously, “So, uh, do you think we could hang out again soon?”

Silver smiles as Scott nervously puts his hands in his coat pockets. “Definitely.” He says taking a step closer to him letting his fears go. “But I have to admit something… I’m not big on group dates. So maybe, next time it can be just the two of us?” Silver suggests as Scott smiles and huffs a laugh.

“I could totally handle more of that.” Silver looks Scott in the eyes and his voice is low when he speaks again, “Great.” He leans into kiss Scott, stopping briefly to make sure he’s into it, before pressing his lips to his. It’s just a brief kiss, and he pulls away with a smile before turning to walk toward the door. Before he can open it, Scott grabs him by the wrist and pulls him back, “Silver?”

Scott, now leans forward and kisses him, and they stay like that for several moments before they break away again, with both Silver and Scott smiling widely. “And I could handle more of that.”

Silver gives him one last peck on the lips before he heads inside, leaving a very happy Scott on the front step. “Fun date?” Argent asks watching Silver walk into the house. Silver jumps as he holds his hand over his heart. He takes a second to calm down as he nods, “It was actually. Is Allison upstairs?”

Argent takes a step stopping his son from walking up the steps as he sighs, “Go ahead and yell at me, dad. I get it okay? I’m not Allison.”

“Silver this isn’t about –”

“If it’s not about my life dad, then what is about? About how mom doesn’t worry for me? About how she would rather still be with Michael even though he caused all of my problems and was in love with my sister? Or is it about how you always take her side even when I’m in pain?” Silver screams at his father.

Argent looks around the house to see both Allison and Victoria Argent stand back who just watched the blowout given by Arthur Silver Argent. Unknown to the Argent family that Scott McCall was still outside hearing everything.

“I’m getting out of here.” Silver mutters as he grabs the car keys and rushes out of the house, his main focus on his car. He drives his car as fast as he can to Lydia Martin’s house and he quickly knocks on the door, hoping that the girl didn’t go to Jackson’s.

“Silver?” Lydia questioned seeing the boy in tears, “Come in.”
