Chapter 14

Techno followed behind Kengkla. They walked for a while then suddenly the surrounding area changed drastically.
The tall buildings began to decrease in size. And the body of people began increasing. It looked like a market but Techno was not sure.
Kla kept walking so Techno just followed suit. He kept wondering where on earth Kla would be taking him. The surrounding area was nothing like the life Techno was shown in the last day. As they kept going they approached a small beat down… Restaurant?
Techno was not sure.
“What is this Kla?”
“Just keep following me.”
When they entered Techno was shocked by the surrounding. Not that he hadn’t been to places like this but what shocked him was that Kla knew of such places.
They stood only a few minutes before an old man approached them with a wide smile.
“Aww… Khun Kla? You finally came and is this who I think it is?” An old man inside the old restaurant asked with a gummy smile.
Kla stepped up to the old man he had been visiting for a long time. “Lou Fei… This is Techno… I thought to stop by before going back to Thailand.”
The old man’s eyes widened. “Oh… Techno. Nice to meet you.”
Techno took the hand that was extended towards him. “Nice to meet you too Lou Fei.”
Lou Fei lead them to a large table towards the back of the restaurant. Once he had them seated he gave them the menu.
“See anything you like?” Kla asked after a moment of Techno looking at the words on the plastic protected piece of paper.
Techno nodded then pointed to his desired meal. “This and maybe that.”
“You can have them both if you want.”
Techno pulled a smile. Kla felt satisfied, he knew the restaurant they went to before wasn’t to Techno’s liking based on the facial expressions he pulled when they were seated. So this smile he saw now, made him feel good. It made in feel good to know that Techno was having a good time. That he liked what he liked.
They finally ordered and began eating. As Kla went to pick another piece of chicken from his bow it suddenly fell back in the round space. When he went to pick it up again, it did the same thing. Falling right out of his chopsticks. As he lowered them yet again to attempt the act it finally fit him. Someone was looking at this piece of chicken, that’s why it fell so often. Kla slowly lifted his head to find the culprit. “What are looking at?” He asked in a soft tone showing no anger but a slight bit of annoyance.
“Nothing…” Techno lied through his teeth.
Kla nodded then went to pick it up again but like before, it fall right back down. With out lifting his head he asked again. “Are sure it’s nothing?”
“Am sure… Just keep eating.”
Kla picked it up and brought it out the bowl and as if he would finally get to eat it, his fate was yet the same. He slammed his chopsticks down then moved the bowl to Techno. “Here… Take it.”
With a childish smile Techno shamelessly took the bowl and began eating. Kla watched him with glossy eyes. While Techno ate, Kla picked up his chopsticks then slowly moved his hand to the meat sticks Techno ordered.
As he got close to a landing Techno moved the plate so it was out of reach.
Techno looked at Kla as if he was a criminal.
“What? You have mine but I can’t get yours?”
Kla asked with a frown.
“Yes…”
“Now that’s not fair.”
Techno took another bite from Kla’s chicken before giving him his plate of meat sticks. “Fine, you can have two…”
Kla widened his eyes. “Two? Your really something.”
“Take it or leave it.”
“Fine, fine. I’ll take the two.”
Kla took what he could with a smile on his face. He enjoyed Techno’s company more then he expected. Everything he told himself from the beginning was slowly becoming a lie he tried to believe. He was more interested in this man then before and he knew it now more then ever.
After a while of the two in grossed with their meals, Techno stood up suddenly needing to use the restroom. Kla pointed to a vague area. When Techno follow it he found himself bumping into Lou Fei.
“Am sorry I was just looking for the restroom…”
“Oh… It’s that way…”
Techno did a slight bow to the old man. As he was about to turn around he remembered something. “Um, Lou Fei?”
The old man turned to Techno once again. “Yes?”
“Do you mind if I ask something?”
“Not at all… What is it?”
“When we first entered you thought I was someone else?”
“Well… Yes.”
“Who?”
“Some young man Kla keep talking about for a long time. It’s not his first time here in China. He came on business trips and when he did, he would pass by my place for a meal. As time went on I became familiar with him so one day I asked him if he had a special some. He said yes and that one day he will bring him here for me to meet. When you walked in I thought that was you but your name hadn’t come out his mouth before so I didn’t recognize it…”
“Did he say the name of this person?”
“Of course… All the time but am an old man and I see many people every day. Kengkla has not been here in 2 years… I thought he forgot about me.”
Techno nodded as he realized that he was not going to get anymore information from the old man. “Thank you.”
The old man gave Techno a warm smile before turning away to continue his daily duties.
Techno found his way to the restroom then returned back to the large table he left Kla at.
When he was seated, his head had many thoughts flouting in his head but he decided to handle the most non incriminating of them all.
“Why did you bring me here?”
“You don’t like it?”
“No… I like it but I don’t understand why you went out of your way to bring me here.”
“I could tell that the last place wasn’t of your taste. I honestly didn’t know what to do… So I brought you here.”
“How did you find this place? Its so far from your hotel and business buildings.”
Kla let his head hang low. Techno felt as if it had something to do the person he learned about earlier. The man with no name. But he didn’t want to prob anymore. It wasn’t his place to want to learn about Kla’s past.
“You know what… Forget about it. It’s getting late and we need to pack for our flight back…”
Kla nodded to this and asked for the check. Lou Fei walked them out. “Please visit again Khun Kla… I miss our small talk.”
Kla gave the old man a smile Techno had never seen from him. “I’ll do… I’ll be returning soon for a conference meeting… So hopefully I’ll stop by again.”
A few more smiles exchanged between the three but as Techno followed Kla out he was stopped by a warm but dry hand.
“He said he would bring the one he loved most. I waited… Then he disappeared for 2 years and when he comes back he brings you? I might not know you Techno or the relationship between you and Khun Kla but what I know is that the person he brings to me means a lot to him. Your the only one he has brought to me.”
“I can’t mean much to him since we’ve only been together for 2 days. What could I possibly mean to him?”
“A second is enough to know that you want something or not. A second is all the heart needs… It’s the brain that delays it by thinking about the pros and cons. The right and wrongs… What could have been and what can be.”
Lou Fei let go of Techno’s hand. He was satisfied. He had been watching them from the moment they sat down to eat. He knew it wasn’t the man Kla had mentioned before in their conversations but he felt that this one was way more special then the other. He watched Kla turn back to signal Techno to hurry up and follow behind.
Techno did just that. Leaving the old place with more then he had bargained for.

It’s been a while… I hope you enjoyed this.
I just wanted to mention that am having trouble with this book… I mean the chapters switch places on their own and I can’t place them back. It happened with chapters 2 and 3 and now chapter 10 moved. I don’t know what to do…
I was thinking of deleting this entire book and restarting it but if the order of the chapters doesn’t bother you then I won’t do anything.
Please give me your opinion if it bothers you or not. If it does I’ll have to create a new book for this story…
