Chapter 4

PRESENT

“Sheng Fang,” Sheng Shao You brought the half-empty glass to his lips again. “It is all your fault. It is—”

But before he could empty the rest of the strong contents down his throat, it was whisked away from him with quickness. He held on to the counter to steady himself.

“That’s enough, Sheng Shao You,” a deep voice rasped from behind him.

Shao You turned his head to look at the person. His drunk vision failed him, and so did his hazy mind.

Was it a human, a ghost, or an alien?

He did not give a damn.

He pointed to the glass in the stranger’s hand.
“Give me that,” he demanded, voice tight.

The strange man shook his head and pushed the glass down the counter to the bartender instead. “He’s had enough. No more.”

Like he could do what he wanted.

Like he owned the room.

“No? Who are you?” Shao You asked, angry and frustrated. He needed his drink back, or crazy he would go.

Hua Yong, the controller of HUA CORP. and the uncrowned leader of Jianghu, shook his head and said, “I’m no one. But Mr. Sheng, you must come with me.”

“Come with you?” the drunk S-class alpha slurred, chuckling. He was drunk to his core and reeked of the strongest liquor. He raised his head and tried to make out the face of the stranger, but only a blur stared back at him.

“My drink… I’m an S-class alpha, do you know that?” he informed in a warning tone. “I’m Sheng Shao You.”

A tiny chuckle, then the person took two steps closer and draped his hands carefully around him. The stray hands slid down to his middle and gripped the skin under his shirt.

Suddenly he felt hot, and the AC was almost nonexistent, a wet tongue to his sensitive ear. “I know what you are, Mr. Sheng,” he whispered. “Down to your blue boxers tonight.”

What? His blue boxers? Sheng Shao You must have been drunk, but not drunk enough to listen to more of these words. He tried to push the hands away, struggling to his feet. “Get away from me.”

“I tried, Mr. Sheng,” came a muffled reply before he was whipped up into strong, steady arms, locked in a warm embrace.

Unaware of what was happening, Sheng Shao You struggled to break free, his dominant pheromones slipping out a bit.

This was embarrassing. He was an S-class alpha. The absolute top of the chain. What would people say about this? An S-class alpha being carried bridal style by a you-know-who? Shameful.

“Shao You, be good,” Hua Yong’s grip tightened around him as he carried the alpha in his arms. “Put away your pheromones.”

Shao You wanted to fight back. He really wanted to unleash his pheromones to their max and bring this daring person to their knees in front of him. But it seemed to have been suppressed by an unknown force. The more pheromones he released, the calmer he was getting. It felt like he was under a spell—aware but unable to break free.

Hua Yong kissed the top of his head gently. Thankfully, the arrogant alpha was too drunk to struggle anymore with him. Or maybe it was the impact of his calming pheromones. Either way.

Under the curious eyes of the other occupants of the bar, stone-cold Hua Yong carried the drunk alpha through the premises and out into the parking lot. His black Mercedes-Benz was the only car parked in the dark alley, with the driver ready to move at his command.

Sheng Shao You did not understand what was happening. Why did his body feel so hot? Why did he feel like he wanted to be dominated and not the other way around?

For the first time.

Was it his rut? Was this the heat they talked about in the holy books? No! What was he thinking? He was an S-class alpha. Rut it was. Not whatever his mushy consciousness was whispering out to him.

Alcohol did make him delusional.

Well, that was what he told himself minutes ago, pushed into a strange car with an unknown person. The same daring person who stole his drink and played him bride before an entire room of other genders. He would deal with him. Soon enough.

Not now, though. This time around, he needed help. His core was burning. He was slipping in and out of consciousness, in because he was on fire. He had experienced ruts before—premature or timed—but this one was different.

He was worse than an omega in heat. The discomfort gnawed at his skin. Maddening. Terrifying. New.

Sheng Shao You did not care anymore. Whether this strange person was an omega, beta, or even a psychotic alpha, he needed help. And he would help him.

“I need—I need to have sex,” the words escaped his lips, laced with moans. When he got no answer, he added firmly, “now.”

His hands reached and touched the person he lay across. Searching, grabbing at nothing and everything. He physically shuddered as his hand was stopped midway by a stronger one, ice-cold and firm.

“Mr. Sheng, calm down. You’re drunk,” Hua Yong tried to reason with him.

But a slap immediately turned his head the other way. It was like paper against a tree; still, his skin burned at the contact. He smirked as Shao You sat up and grabbed him by the collar. Was he masochistic? Because he loved the feel of this. The alpha’s eyes were a priceless mixture of anger, lust, and helplessness. “Help me… I—I feel so bad,” he drawled, slamming onto his back again.

Sheng Shao You whimpered and turned as if in pain at the bittersweet ache chewing up his core. Convinced, Hua Yong grabbed his right leg and pinned it to the seat.

“I will,” Hua Yong declared and paused as if to think, even though he was already sure of his next move.

“But you have to be patient, Mr. Sheng,” he added and slowly leaned down, his mouth hovering just above the other’s open lips. But he did not kiss him.

Yet.

Sheng Shao You was nowhere near patient. He moaned, cried, and clawed at the seats.
Hua Yong kept his feet on his thighs and rubbed them, accompanying it with his own strong-scented pheromones. Gently, trying to soothe his alpha of his lustful torture.
He brought them to his lips and kissed the soles of his feet, one at a time. The attractive, pale grippers clawed at his soft cheeks. “Mm!” Shao You cried, arching his back.

Why now? Just why?

Premature ruts are the worst.
