“SCARED?” SHAO YOU asked.

A deep sigh escaped the enigma’s lips. “Yes. Scared.”

Then he began speaking on his own. Shao You did not have to ask anything more. Hua Yong bared his innermost questions to him answering each and everyone one of them as he went. Telling him about how his heart had started beating for the fast. That he thought he’d been sick. How he’d come back after that. To wait for him. Everyday for seven days but Shao You never returned.

Shao You, he was lost in the sound of his deep voice. Not the shock of everything he was hearing. Surely, this had to be some bullshit.

But even then, he listened. He believed every word that came out of Hua Yong’s mouth. Like it was a page from some holy book he couldn’t miss. Even when reason was telling him otherwise. Even when his brain was telling him to run.

Hua Yong was not normal. He’d followed him for twelve years. He’d loved him for this twelve years.

Twelve years.

Shao You’s breath stalled. Twelve years meant he’d been twelve and Hua Yong had been eight. It meant every stage of his life. It was all starting to fall in place.

The gifts. God, those birthday gifts he’d get on the night of his every birthday since he was thirteen with no name. No claim. And there was the case of that black Mercedes following him everywhere. But no one would take him serious.

He knew he was not crazy. Turned out it was all him. Hua Yong had been what? Eighteen? Nineteen?

It was obsessive. He ought to have been some type of psychopath.

However, his heart chose to stay. Shao You did not move.

He remained there. Right by his side. Watching him pour his heart out to him in the only language he knew of. Shameless gloating.

When Hua Yong finished his story, albeit confession, no one spoke for what seemed like a long time. Somehow they were back in their earlier position. Shao You was nestled in Hua Yong’s arms, both breathing heavily.

And all Shao You had in him was to hold him tighter. Suck in the same air Hua Yong was breathing into the side of his neck.

Because this man had lay his heart out to him. Given him authority over his heart.

And Shao You, he knew he could make or break him. He had this power even before he knew he had it.

Because this man, Hua Yong, he’d always been there. Every stage of his life. Lingering in the shadows. Watching over him like some god.

This was the truth.

The silence stretched on. Far shorter than expected. But it wasn’t suffocating. This silence was rather heavy with secrets.

Things that were better left unsaid. So they both chose to avoid it.

Because Hua Yong wasn’t the only one with secrets.

After a while of just lying there sucked into each other, Shao You turned in his arm to face him again.

He kissed Hua Yong and pulled back to watch him. His face lit up. “You’re one crazy boy, you know that?”

Hua Yong licked his lips, and winked. “I am.”

Shao You raised a brow.

“For you.” he continued.

That was how Shao You broke into the heartiest chuckle he’d let out in while. It was a foreign sound even to him. Still, he couldn’t stop.

It tumbled out in short gasps.

Like the words of Hua Yong had turned on a switch that was broken in him, and threw the key away so he couldn’t stop.

He wasn’t counting. However, he knew he’d been laughing for a very long time.

And Hua Yong let him.

When he was finally able to stop, Hua Yong was watching him intently. His eyes were widened and a big smile of his own spread on his face. The fondness was gleaming in his eyes. Shao You saw everything in them. Everything he felt for him.

It was like Shao You was his whole world.

For a moment, neither spoke. The air between them thickened, heavy with all the things that hadn’t been said yet. Shao You’s gaze dropped to the enigma’s lips, then back up.

Hua Yong mirrored him. Though his eyes lingered too long a time to be casual.

And that was all the invitation Shao You needed.

He leaned in and kissed Hua Yong again. This time, he didn’t pull back. None did.

The kiss–tender at first, almost careful. Like they were both unsure.

Just when it was getting hotter, Hua Yong paused, jutting a groan out of him.

“Shao You–” Shao You felt Hua Yong’s hot breath against his lips, sending a jolt through him.

He hummed, eyes snapping open but the heat did not stop.

Hua Yong pulled away briefly to ask him if he was sure about this. Consent, he was asking for it again.

Shao You blinked, pressing his forehead against Hua Yong’s. His fingers rested on the side of his face, desperate.

“I’ve never been sure of anything in my life.” he breathed out.

Their lips met again. This time with no promise of stopping anytime soon. Not to ask questions, and definitely not to breathe.

They kissed hard, pouring all of their pent up emotions into it. Kissed liked they had been starved for days. No, months.

Shao You’s hands traced Hua Yong’s jaw, grasped his neck, trailed the curves of his hips…Hua Yong grabbed that stubborn hand and pinned it to the bed behind him.

Shao You gasped.

Without breaking the kiss, Hua Yong slowly pushed Shao You on his back and climbed on him, pinning one knee on either side of the alpha. Shao You locked his arms around Hua Yong’s waist, pulling him flush against him.

They both grunted at the clash, their tangling tongues stalling for just a micro moment before they were back at it.

Insatiable. Shao You wished there was a better name for the hunger with which the enigma kissed him. He was gasping for breath and still their lips did not leave each other.

Hua Yong tilted his head to deepen the kiss, one hand pressing the back of Shao You’s head to his. He groaned into the kiss when Hua Yong’s hard on rubbed his core, turned on by the sheer intensity of it.

They were both hard.

Shao You’s hip bucked off the bed, struggling to catch his breath and control the pressure building in his pants at the same time. As if that wasn’t enough he felt hands going behind him and gripping his ass.

Oh.

Hua Yong rocked into him, Shao You took a second to get his head back in the game but when he did he met his thrusts with equal fervor.

This was not enough.

If the tent in his pants was anything to go by, he was one second away from coming in them.

With one swift motion, he turned them around. Hua Yong on the bed, him on top. He could feel the enigma smile into the kiss. He nibbed his lips, sank his teeth into the soft spot–just to show dominance. Then tasted his blood on his tongue.

But he had it all wrong. And he was about to find out in the most unconventional way possible.

Heat bloomed in his chest as Hua Yong’s hand found his hips and squeezed. Horrible decision.

He broke away from the kiss, a slim string of saliva connecting them.

Shao You came onto Hua Yong, trying to rip his clothes off. He would if this particular set of pyjamas on him didn’t have such fine fabric–and design.

Hua Yong tried to catch his breath. Shao You’s eyes moved between the state he was in and taking his clothes off.

Hua Yong’s face was flushed, lips swollen and hair damp and messy against his face. Shao You liked the way it covered his eyes. Like some tiger-cat hybrid that is both fierce looking and cute.

Hua Yong rasped. “Shao You.”

Fabric ripped. “Mm?”

“I-I need to tell you something.”

Shao You spared him a quick glance yet he didn’t stop. What did he have to tell him that he hadn’t mention before? But even in his haze, he nodded.

“Do you know what I am?”

He had his attention now. His movements stalled as he stared blankly at the man beneath him. His pulse quickened in anticipation.

“What-” he choked up from the uneven breaths. “What do you mean?”

“You thought I was an omega when we first met.” His grip tightened on his hips. “Do you still think that?”

Shao You’s eyes narrowed, the pressure from his chest gone in an instant. “You topped me,” he said. “Of course I don’t think that.”

His face scrunched up in confusion. Why were they having this conversation now?

This man sure had bad timing. Rock hard cocks pressed to each other and he now wanted to talk about secondary genders. What happened to before or after?

“What do you think I am?”

Yeah that did it.

Shao You was off him in an instant slamming into the space next to him with a loud huff. “An alpha, what else?” he huffed, watching the enigma rise to his half height, a smug smile surprisingly etched into his features.

Hua Yong on the other hand could not help it.

He hadn’t considered the possibility of such genuine mix up before… well, before whatever this was between them.

An alpha? How could the alpha think he was an alpha if he’d been on top when they slept together?

Was he gay?

But it made him happy all the same.

The fact that Shao You thought he was an alpha and still didn’t question him. That he had not been bothered about it. Shao You must have liked him a lot. Or like him a lot.

“Mr. Sheng,” he started.

Shao You frowned at the name change. Why was the temperature in the room warmer all of a sudden.

“I’m not an alpha.”

The bomb. If Shao You could sit up any straighter, he would. What was this psychopath talking about it? What did he mean by that?

“What do you mean?” he asked.

Hua Yong nodded. “I’m. Not. An. Alpha.”

By now, Shao You was sure he was indeed crazy. Handsome but crazy. If he wasn’t an alpha then what was he? A rock?

Because surely no omega could possess the pheromones or strength this man had. Shao You had experienced it first hand. When he slept with him and during his rut.

There was no mistake in that kind of pheromones that it belonged to another alpha. An S class alpha like him.

Maybe he was reacting too strongly. He put his hand on his chest to calm his hammering heart.

So Hua Yong wanted to play? Fine. He would feed into his jokes. Anything to get that cock unwrapped.

A hungry man is a desperate man.

“Then are you a beta?” he asked.

“No.”

“Omega?”

Hua Yong shook his head. “No.”

Of course he wasn’t. He was an alpha. “So you’re null?”

“Enigma.” Hua Yong provided, face contorting when the alpha simply tutted and shook his head the second it sank in.

As if he’d heard the worst joke ever recorded in history and couldn’t find it in him to even chuckle.

Ah, a joke, Shao You thought. For a moment, he was tempted to laugh at it but put on a straight face and jumped back on the so called enigma. He popped his buttons one at a time, ignoring the absurdity of the words that had been spoken.

Hua Yong took his hands out of the shirt for Shao You, as he flung it. Landed somewhere none followed with their eyes. “Shao You?”

Shao You moved on to his pyjama pant.

This jokester almost killed his boner. But he was still hard as fuck and wanted the sex just as much. Even with his lame jokes.”Mr. Hua, you’re quite funny. But I have another priority right now.” he pointed down at Hua Yong’s dick. “Should I suck or you’ll suck mine?”

“But I’m not joking.”

Shao You wouldn’t be put off so he fixed him with a reproachful instead. “Enigmas do not exist.” he muttered flatly, hands shaking around Hua Yong’s pant like he was unwrapping a Christmas present.

The response came out as low but he heard it. Loud enough to decipher the seriousness of the tone used. “I do.”

Blood drained from Shao You’s face. His blood run cold, throat dried up like a well.

He wanted to not believe it.

He didn’t mean to believe him so easily. But Hua Yong’s face were a dead giveaway. He wasn’t playing a prank.

He wouldn’t dare to.

Every ounce of denial left in him dissipated. He slowly sank back onto the bed.”How-” he stammered, “is that possible?”

“Because of you.”

Shao You’s eyes met that of Hua Yong. “Because of me?”

He sounded almost broken. Pitiful.

“Because of you.”
