Chapter 16
Scott is running through the streets of Beacon Hills, crossing roads and leaping over fences until he reaches the Argent home. He hides in the bushes out front as the door opens up. “Coast is clear.” Allison yells letting the boy rush towards the front door. “He’s upstairs. You only have an hour.”
Scott smiles at her as a thank you and rushes up the stairs to Silver’s room opening the door. “Hi.” Silver whispered. “Hi.” Scott said back. Silver smiled as he pulled Scott into his room and they both fell on his bed laughing.
“Just shut up and kiss me, McCall.” Silver says. Scott and Silver start to aggressively make out and Scott helps Silver take off his shirt and they collapse on the bed and end up sending a lamp on the floor.
“Sorry!” Scott yells and Silver can’t help but laugh, “That’s okay. I hated that lamp anyway.” Scott looks down at Silver’s naked torso seeing scars litter his body. “I love you.” Scott whispers to him and Silver’s eyes fill up with tears as he leans up and kisses Scott once more.
Silver’s bare leg starts sliding his and he attempts to roll over him but they end up slipping right off the side of the bed laughing. “… Okay, that was your fault.” Scott says to him. “Sorry…” Silver answers sheepishly.
Scott suddenly perks up as he hears movement outside his room, “Do the right-side brakes on your dad’s SUV squeak a little bit?” Scott asks, panicked. “Yeah…” Silver answers. “Then we’re dead.”
“God dammit!” Silver mutters as he and Scott quickly stand up. “Hurry!” He says giving Scott his clothes.
Silver’s mother enters the bedroom, finding a fully dressed Silver sitting calmly on the bed. “If you don’t trust me enough to have a lock on my door, the least you can do is knock.” Silver says irritably, “Dad would do it.”
“Your father babies you, Silver. Did I interrupt something?” Victoria asks suspiciously. “Just my studying… my life… my happiness… will to live…” Silver mutters. “Can’t you just bother Allison?”
“I was already with her.” Victoria answers. Silver glances nervously at the open window as Victoria holds up a black suit in dry cleaning plastic. “I picked up your suit for the funeral tomorrow.”
“You can just put it on my desk.”
Victoria walks up to the dresser and yanks the closet doors open and eyes it suspiciously. Finding nothing unusual, she hangs the suit up. “Is there anything else you want? Want to ruin my life some more?” Silver questions.
Victoria ignores him and heads for the open window, glaring at her son. Silver rushes up and slams the window shut before she can look out. “Jesus Christ! I have no privacy here.”
“Be on your best behavior tomorrow. We have guests coming.” Victoria says to him as she pushes past Allison on her way out of his room. Allison closes the door behind her before releasing a breath at the same time as her brother.
“Did he make it out?” Allison ass and Silver nods with a smirk. “Thank god. What did mom mean about guests coming?” Allison asks her brother taking a seat on his bed.
“Besides the guests that are already here?” Silver mutters knowing the hunters meeting in their garage, “Maybe out of town family? People who actually liked Kate?” Silver questions. “I didn’t come up just to ask about Scott.” Allison sighs.
🦎
“Wow!” Stiles yells as he turns on the Jeep to see Allison and Silver standing in front of it. The twins quickly run up to the Jeep greeting the boys at the window. “What are you doing here? Someone is going to see us.”
“I don’t care – she is our best friend and we need to find her before they do.” Silver says to Scott. “I can find her before the cops can.” Scott says. “How about before our father does?” Allison asks sarcastically. Stiles leans up and looks out the window towards the twins, “Repeat that. Your father is currently out and looking?”
“We just saw him and three other guys leave our house in two SUVs.”
“Search party.” Scott mutters to himself. “It’s more like a hunting party.” Silver says as he and Allison climb in the back of the Jeep. “All right, if she’s turning would they actually kill her?” Stiles asks as he starts to drive.
“I don’t know. They won’t tell us anything. All they say is we’ll talk after Kate’s funeral, when the others get here.”
“What others?” Stiles asks the hunters. “They won’t tell us that either, Stiles!” Silver screams annoyed. “Scott, do you have anything?” Allison asks as she places a hand on her brother’s arm trying to calm him down.
“Take the next right!”
🦎
The four teens walk through the woods as Scott tries to get a scent on Lydia. “She came here? You sure?” Stiles questions as they stare up at the Hale house. “Yeah, this is where the scent leads.” Scott answers.
“All right, but has Lydia ever been here?” Stiles questions the group. “Not with me. Maybe she came here on instinct – like she was looking for Derek?” Allison asks. “You mean looking for an Alpha.”
“Wolves need a pack, right?” Allison asks but her voice starts to fade for Silver. He doesn’t want to hear his sister and boyfriend bicker, he doesn’t seem to care as something caught his eye in the trees.
He slowly walks over to a tree to see a split arrow barely holding on. He recognized the arrow. He’s seen this arrow before but never in Beacon HIlls.
And he knows if he asks Allison, she would say the same thing.
“Allison,” Silver calls out causing Scott and Allison to stop bickering and stare at the boy. “Whoa, hey! Look at this! You see this?” Stiles calls out not knowing the situation making everyone stare at him. “I think it’s a tripwire.”
Silver covers his mouth trying not to laugh once Scott hangs upside down. “Stiles-” Silver calls out. “Yeah, buddy.” Silver points to Scott hanging upside down making both twins burst out laughing.
“Next time you see a tripwire? Don’t trip it.”
“Yeah, noted…” Stiles mutters. Allison, Silver and Stiles quickly walk over to Scott but he pushes them away, “Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Someone’s coming! Hide!” Allison and Stiles run but Silver can’t help but glance at the arrow to Scott, “Go!” Scott screams at him.
Silver pokes his head out from the tree opposite of Stiles and Allison to see his dad, hunters and one very familiar man walking up to Scott.
Thomas Heart.
“Hold it, Heart.” Argent says as he lowers the man’s bow. The twins share a look of shock, remembering the last name. Argent sighs as he squats down in front of the boy. “Scott.”
“Mr. Argent.” Scott answers, “Is this one of yours? Nice design. Very constricting.” Scott says to him. “What are you doing out here?” Argent asks. “Looking for my friend.” Scott says. “Ah that’s right. Lydia’s in your group now, isn’t she? Part of your clique? Is that the word you use? Or is there another way to put it? Part of your pack?”
“Clique sounds right to me.” Scott says. “I hope so. Because I know she’s a friend of Silver’s, and one special circumstance such as yourself – one I can handle. Not two.” Argent whispers out. “Your son is friends with him?” Thomas asks, “Is Allison his friend too?”
“Not anymore, Thomas.” Argent spits out. “Do you know what hemicorporectomy is?” Argent asks Scott. “I have a feeling I don’t want to know.” Scott whispers. “It’s a medical term for amputating somebody at the waist. Cutting them in half. Takes a tremendous amount of strength to cut through tissue and bone like that.” Heart says.
Scott freezes hearing the man explain the term. “Let’s hope a demonstration never becomes necessary.” Argent tells him as he stands up. The two walk away leaving Scott behind.
“Are you okay?” Silver asks rushing over to Scott. “Just another life- threatening conversation with you dad… and that scary man.” Scott admits causing Silver to chuckle, “Trust me, he I know that feeling.” He whispers.
“Stiles, help me with this.” Allison says. “Thanks…” Scott says cutting himself down, “…But I think I got it.” Scott helps Silver stand up as he and Stiles start their walk to the Hale house.
“So, Thomas Heart is here.” Allison whispers to her brother, “Which means that…”
“Yeah.” Silver nods, “Michael is here. Those are the guests that mom was talking about.”
“Are you going to tell Scott who that is?”
“I think it might be better to wait till we find Lydia. I don’t want him to worry.”
🦎
Silver opens his locker as a picture was waiting for him. Silver looked around as he grabbed the photo to see the photo of him, Michael and Allison. He slams his locker shut as he rips up the photo and throws it away.
“You should talk to him.” Allison says to Scott as they both watch Silver storm off. “Everyone is talking about us and Kate. It’s going to bring up some feelings. He needs you.” Allison says before walking off holding her dress.
Scott follows Silver as he grabs his hand and drags him into an empty classroom. “It’s just me. It’s just me.” Scott whispers to Silver seeing the tears in his eyes, “It’s okay.”
“How’d you know?”
“I could hear your heartbeat and Allison just pushed me. What is it?” Scott asked, wiping away his tears. “I can’t go to the funeral. I can’t go and see my family who doesn’t even support me. Kate told me that she set me up with Michael but for what reason? There’s going to be camera’s-”
“Yes, you can.” Scott interrupts him, “Silver, you will be fine. Everything’s gonna be okay. We’re gonna find Lydia, and it’s all gonna be good. Just think about it- no Peter, no psycho werewolf killings.. Your sister, me, your dad….”
Silver nods as he takes a deep breath. “I don’t want to cry.” Silver admits looking up at Scott. “Aren’t you supposed to cry at funerals?” Scott asked. “For her?” Silver questions, “She never cried for me.”
“What if you cry for your family? Your dad lost a sister and Allison lost someone she knew.” Scott suggests causing Silver to sigh. “You’ll be fine. ANd I’ll make sure. I’ll be there.” Scott tells him softly.
“What?” Silver asks, surprised and confused. “I’ll figure it out, okay? I’ll be there for you.” Silver leans up giving Scott a quick kiss before he leaves the classroom.
🦎
“Together.” Allison whispers to her brother grabbing his hand. “Together.” He mutters to himself.
The twins walk alongside of their parents towards the grave of Kate Argent. “Mrs. Argent, can we get a few words? Just a few words! A few words, Mrs. Argent?” A reporter screams out causing Silver to flinch.
“I knew this was a bad idea…” Argent says to his family as he holds Silver close to him. “Well, it wasn’t my idea.” Victoria says scornfully. “I tried telling him.. But, he insisted on making a point of it.”
“Well, if he insisted, then he can deal with it when he gets here.” Victoria says. “Who gets here?” Allison asks. “Just sit down, sweetheart.” Victoria tells her softly leading the twins to their seats. “You okay?” Argent asks his son.
“Victoria. Christopher.”
The twins look up to see a family of three walking towards theirs all dressed in black. The mother and son with matching red hair and the father with his deadly stare looking around – trying to find any danger.
“Rachel, Thomas.” Victoria greets them with a smile, “And Michael.” The teenage boy greets the two parents with a soft hi before turning to see Allison and Silver staring at him. “I’m so sorry for your loss. Kate was, she was a great person and an excellent teacher.”
“Who’s that?” Stiles asks as he and Scott hide behind a gravestone watching the funeral. “Michael.” Scott says, making Stiles confused, “Like the Michael? The one that was dating both of them? What is he doing here?”
“Thank you.” Allison says speaking up placing a hand on her brother’s back. Silver and Michael stare at each other unsure what to say when someone clears their throat. “Can we have a moment alone?” Gerard asks Michael and the boy nods leaving them alone.
“Do you remember me?” Gerard asks the twins and they both shake their heads, “Considering I haven’t seen you since you were three, I don’t suppose I can assume you’d call me “Grandpa.” So, if it’s comfortable, call me Gerard for the time being… But, I’d prefer “Grandpa.””
Silver looks over as a smile finally reaches his face to see Scott looking at him. But the smile quickly turns to a frown as his dad takes a seat next to him.
🦎
“Wait!” Scott yells as he chases down the man before he gets stuck in a trap. Scott gets dragged off by Derek as he tries to hold back the teen. “What are you doing? I can help him?” Scott says struggling.
Scott and Derek both watch as a group of hunters walk up to the wolf. “Who are you? What are you doing here?” Thomas Heart asks the wolf.
“Nothing. Nothing, I swear.” The wolf begs out. “You’re not from here are you? Are you!” Thomas yells as the wolf shakes his head no. “I came looking for the alpha.” The wolf cries out. “Gentlemen! Take a look at a rare sight. You want to tell them what we caugh, Michaelt?” Gerard asks the boy, making Scott filled with fear for himself and Silver, “An Omega.” Michael answers.
“The lone wolf! Possibly kicked out of his own pack, or a survivor of a pack that was hunted down. Maybe even murdered. Possibly alone by his own choice. Certainly not a wise choice.”
“Because as I am about to demonstrate, an omega rarely survives on his own.” Michael holds out a sword letting Gerard grab it before he cuts the omega in half. “We have a code.” Argent tells his father. “Not when they murder my daughter. No code. Not anymore. From now on these things are just bodies waiting to be cut in half.”
“Are you listening? Because I don’t care if they’re wounded and weak or seemingly harmless. Begging for their life with the promise that they will never, ever hurt anyone. Or some desperate lost soul with no idea what they’re getting into. We find them. We kill them. We kill them all.”
